AVM Ovation D/A-Converter S (S-DAC) upgrade module

AVM Upgrade Modules

AVM upgrade modules are plug-in cards that add or change functions inside AVM components. The S-DAC replaces the converter in Ovation CS, MP and SD 6.3 and 8.3 sources with eight ESS 9038 PRO chips in a bi-quad layout, four per channel, for PCM up to 384 kHz/32-bit and DSD256. Ovation .2 models take it with a software update, and AVM service or an authorized dealer installs it.

The PA 8.3 modular preamplifier is built from cards: Line-In (RCA + XLR), Phono (MM/MC), Tone Control and Digital-In on the input side, and Line-Out (RCA + XLR), transistor Output and Tube Output on the output side. The PH 8.3 phono stage takes the MM and MC phono modules, and the Evolution PH 3.3 and PH 5.3 take the PH Module MC (XLR) for balanced moving-coil cartridges. A PA 8.3 needs at least one input card and one output card to play and holds up to eight inputs and three outputs; a PH 8.3 needs at least one card and holds up to four.
