The Oracle Audio Delphi MkVII Classic extracts more music from your records than turntables costing twice its price, thanks to Oracle's Micro Vibration Stabilizer System (MVSS) and a bearing design that achieves near-zero friction through a tungsten carbide tip resting on a Glass Filled Torlon thrust plate. This is the seventh generation of the turntable that put Oracle on the map in 1979, and every revision has been driven by measurable improvements in vibration control, speed stability, and signal integrity. The Classic is the foundation of the Delphi line: clear acrylic plinth, standard power supply (with Turbo MkII available), and the full MkVII platform underneath.
We carry Oracle because they build turntables the way we think turntables should be built: mechanically correct, obsessively refined, and designed to get out of the way of your music. The Delphi has been on more than 50 magazine covers worldwide, but what matters to us is how it sounds in your room, with your cartridge, playing your records. That's why every Oracle purchase from The Listening Room includes hands-on setup at your location. We don't just sell these. We set them up, calibrate the suspension, and make sure you're hearing everything the Delphi can do.
Key Features of the Oracle Audio Delphi MkVII Classic Turntable
- Micro Vibration Stabilizer System (MVSS): Captures and dissipates micro-vibrations within the floating sub-chassis without compromising the suspension's isolation. The single most significant improvement Oracle has made to the Delphi since 1979.
- Dual Tripod Bearing: Six precision PEEK screws in two offset tripods center the spindle with repeatable accuracy. Tungsten carbide ball tip on a Glass Filled Torlon thrust plate for minimal friction and decades of durability.
- Two-Piece Platter Assembly: Inner platter/spindle separates from the outer platter for easy belt installation while reducing resonances and preserving bearing calibration.
- 4 kg Machined Platter: Milled from solid 6061T6 aluminum-magnesium alloy with a diamond-cut finish. Mass concentrated at the outer edge maximizes the flywheel effect.
- Tri-Pedal Suspension: Three towers with 12 components and 7 mechanical filters each, isolating the sub-chassis from room vibrations, footfall, and speaker energy.
- Expanded Sub-Chassis: 3.9 kg hand-brushed aluminum, skeletal design. Tonearm mounting ring widened ~35% over previous generations for improved rigidity.
- AC Synchronous Motor: Low-voltage, impedance-matched coils, military-grade capacitors. Dual current drive circuitry for maximum start-up torque and minimum operational vibration.
- Hard Acrylic Mat: Formulated for optimal impedance matching with vinyl records.
- Turbo MkII Power Supply (Optional): Reduces parasitic noise to less than one millivolt. Available as an upgrade variant or added later as a field upgrade.
The MVSS Advantage
Every suspended turntable faces the same challenge: the sub-chassis isolates the platter and tonearm from the outside world, but micro-vibrations generated within the sub-chassis itself (motor, stylus tracing the groove, bearing) have nowhere to go. They bounce around and color the sound. The MVSS captures these internal vibrations and dissipates them before they reach the stylus. The result is better harmonic integrity, sharper transients, and a soundstage with genuine depth. You hear deeper into recordings because the noise floor drops.
Bearing and Platter
Instead of a two-bushing design that can develop play over time, the MkVII uses six precision-surfaced PEEK screws in two tripods (three upper at 120 degrees, three lower offset 60 degrees). This self-centering geometry maintains accuracy over decades. The tungsten carbide ball tip rests on a Glass Filled Torlon thrust plate, eliminating metal-on-metal contact. The 4 kg platter is machined from 6061T6 aluminum-magnesium alloy with mass weighted toward the outer edge for flywheel stability. The two-piece design allows belt changes without disturbing bearing calibration.
Suspension and Isolation
Three towers, each containing 12 components with 7 distinct mechanical filters, support the floating sub-chassis. A counter-weight on the front-left tower balances the tonearm mass, keeping the sub-chassis level regardless of which arm you install. The suspension is tuned during setup to accommodate different tonearm weights, which is one reason we include professional setup with every Oracle purchase.
Standard vs. Turbo MkII Power Supply
The Classic ships with Oracle's standard power supply. For those who want more, the Turbo MkII reduces parasitic noise to less than one millivolt and includes a fine-trim potentiometer for precise 24.35 VDC calibration. The improvement is audible: tighter bass, better dynamic contrast, and a lower noise floor. Available as a variant when ordering, or added later as a field upgrade. Customers looking for maximum isolation can also step up to the Delphi Reference with its 17 kg granite base and Turbo MkII included.
Tonearm Compatibility
The Delphi MkVII accepts 9-inch or 10-inch tonearms via a pre-cut armboard. Tonearm and cartridge are not included. Oracle's Reference Tonearm and Paris Tonearm are natural companions, but the Delphi works well with most quality arms in the 9-10 inch range.
Personalized Setup Included with Your Oracle Audio Purchase
I personally ensure every Oracle turntable purchase includes my hands-on setup at your location, no matter where you are. That's correct, I will drive or fly to you. This personalized setup ensures that your Oracle turntable performs at its absolute best, tailored to your space and system.
