Welcome to The Listening Room! These Terms of Service ("Terms") outline the rules and regulations governing your use of our website (the "Service") operated by The Listening Room ("us," "we," or "our").
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the Terms, then you may not access or use the Service.

Your Account:
- You may be required to create an account to access certain features of the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information, including your password, and for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.
- We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account at any time for any reason, without notice.
Preorders, Deposits, and Special Order Terms:
Some products available through our website are not kept in stock at the time of order and must be specially ordered for you. This includes preorders, built-to-order items, special-order finishes or configurations, and any product whose product page or cart messaging indicates a build, restock, or supplier-dependent lead time.
When you place an order for one of these items, we commit dealer funds to the manufacturer to reserve your unit. Changes to a pre-order or special order affect more than our paperwork on our end. If you need to cancel or refund, please contact us so we can work with you on a case-by-case basis. We will do our best to support your needs, whether that means store credit, a swap to a different in-stock item, or a refund where timing allows.
Small-Order Handling Fee
Orders of $50 and under (before tax and shipping) shipping within the contiguous United States are subject to a $4.95 handling fee. The fee is applied at checkout as part of the shipping charge. Every order takes the same pick, pack, and labor to prepare regardless of size, and this fee helps offset those fixed costs on smaller orders.
Price Match Guarantee
We match the out-the-door price on a new, in-stock item from another authorized US dealer. Find a lower current price and send us the dealer's written quote or a printed or published listing showing their price, and we will do our best to match it.
To qualify:
- The competing seller is an authorized US dealer for that brand.
- The item is identical (same brand, model, and finish) and brand new.
- The price is current and verifiable: a dated written quote, or a printed or published listing showing the seller's price.
- The item is in stock and available for immediate purchase from that dealer.
What we cannot match:
- Sale, promotional, clearance, closeout, liquidation, or going-out-of-business pricing.
- Used, open-box, refurbished, B-stock, or display and demo units.
- Prices from unauthorized or gray-market sellers, or online marketplaces (eBay, third-party Amazon or Walmart sellers).
- Auction prices, members-only or coupon-gated prices, bundle or financing-adjusted prices, trade-in offers, and pricing errors.
We reserve the right to verify any quote and to decline a match that cannot be confirmed or that falls outside this policy. Price matching is offered at our discretion.
Trade-In Price Match Guarantee
We match any other authorized dealer's trade-in offer, plus 5%. If you've received a written trade-in quote from another dealer on your current equipment, share it with us and we'll beat it.
Conditions:
- Trade-in value cannot exceed 50% of the new purchase price.
- The competing offer must be from an authorized hi-fi dealer and presented in writing.
- Some items may not qualify for trade-in due to shipping costs, condition, or other logistical considerations.
- The Listening Room reserves the right to evaluate all trade-in items and make a final determination on eligibility and value.

Promotional and Welcome Codes
Discount codes we issue, including the welcome and exit-intent codes we send to email subscribers, take 10% off a single eligible product and may be used once per customer. A code cannot be combined with any other discount, promotion, or offer. A discount code cannot be applied to an order that includes a trade-in, and a trade-in cannot be applied to an order on which a discount code has been used; the two cannot be combined in either direction. Codes do not apply to open-box or clearance items, to items already on sale, or to products from Magnepan, Diptyque, Wilson Benesch, Audio Research, or Grimm Audio. Each code carries its own expiration date, shown where the code is issued. We reserve the right to correct errors and to decline redemption outside these terms.
Intellectual Property:
- The Service and its original content, features, and functionality (including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, and images) are and will remain the exclusive property of The Listening Room and its licensors.
- The trademarks, service marks, and logos used on the Service are the trademarks or registered trademarks of The Listening Room and its licensors.
Links to Other Websites:
- Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by The Listening Room.
- The Listening Room has no control over, and assumes no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites or services.
- We encourage you to be aware of when you leave our Service and to read the terms and conditions and privacy policies of any other website or service that you visit.
Termination:
- We may terminate or suspend your access to our Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including but not limited to a breach of your Terms.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
Manufacturer Warranty
Every product we sell, unless otherwise indicated on the product page, is brand new and covered by the manufacturer's warranty that applies to it. As an authorized dealer, your warranty is valid and fully supported.
For most brands the warranty is honored directly by the manufacturer. For some brands the warranty is administered by the manufacturer's official US distributor, and in those cases the distributor's warranty terms apply, which may differ from the warranty the manufacturer offers in its home market. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. THE LISTENING ROOM EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
THE LISTENING ROOM DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
THE LISTENING ROOM DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE RESULTS OF USING THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS.
Limitations of Liability:
IN NO EVENT SHALL THE LISTENING ROOM, NOR ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS, BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Governing Law:
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Dispute Resolution:
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms will be settled through binding arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association (http://www.adr.org/). The arbitration shall be held in Chestertown, Maryland.
Entire Agreement:
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding our Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications and proposals, whether oral or written.
Cartridge Exchange Program:
The Listening Room offers cartridge exchange programs with two manufacturers, each with a different mechanic.
Rega is a factory renewal program. When you purchase a Rega cartridge exchange, you agree to mail your old Rega cartridge to our Chestertown showroom. We coordinate with Rega to fit a fresh generator and stylus to your original cartridge body at Rega's UK factory, and the factory renewed unit ships to you after we receive your old cartridge.
Hana is a one-for-one trade-in and loyalty program. When you purchase a Hana cartridge exchange, you agree to mail your damaged Hana cartridge to our Chestertown showroom. After we receive it, we ship you a brand-new same-model Hana cartridge at 30% off the original retail price, with full manufacturer warranty.
Your replacement will not ship until your old cartridge reaches us, so please send it promptly.
What we accept as a trade-in:
Rega: A functional or worn Rega cartridge of the same model as the exchange you purchased. Normal wear, a bent cantilever, a worn stylus, and cosmetic damage are all acceptable. We cannot accept cartridges with a missing generator or a body too damaged to reuse.
Hana: Any worn or damaged Hana cartridge of the same model as the exchange you purchased. Normal wear, bent cantilever, snapped stylus, missing stylus guard, and cosmetic damage are all acceptable. The trade-in is same-model only. For trade-ups to a different Hana model, contact Mike at 410-239-2020 or via our contact page.
If you are unsure whether your cartridge is eligible, contact us before mailing it.
Lead times are estimates, not guarantees. Our published lead time of 5 to 7 business days reflects typical turnaround once we receive your old or damaged cartridge. Actual time may be longer if the manufacturer (Rega, Hana, or their distributors) does not have the replacement in stock, if there are shipping delays, customs delays, or other factors outside our control. We will keep you informed if your order is taking longer than expected.
Final sale once mailed. Once your cartridge is in the mail to us or has been dropped off at our showroom, the trade-in is final and non-refundable. You may cancel and receive a full refund any time before your cartridge is shipped or delivered.
Discontinued models. If a cartridge model has been discontinued, we can only accept a like-for-like trade-in (same model). Trade-ups to a different model require purchasing the desired cartridge directly, or contacting Mike about a trade-up arrangement.
Changes to Our Terms:
We reserve the right to update or change our Terms at any time without prior notice. You are responsible for checking these Terms periodically for any changes.
Your continued use of the Service following the posting of revised Terms means that you accept and agree to the changes.
