Chord Electronics

Chord Electronics

Chord Electronics has been designing and building audio electronics in Kent, England since 1989. While every other manufacturer buys off-the-shelf DAC chips from ESS or AKM, Chord codes their own digital-to-analog conversion on custom FPGAs. Rob Watts' WTA filter algorithms, Pulse Array DAC technology, and proprietary MOSFET amplification are all designed and manufactured in-house. Nothing in a Chord product is off the shelf. Browse the full range of Chord DACs, amplifiers, preamplifiers, and phono stages below.

The lineup spans portable DACs like the Mojo 2 to the reference ULTIMA mono blocks. The Choral range puts DAVE, Prima, Etude, and Symphonic into a matched system. The ULTIMA amplifiers use dual feed-forward error correction with proprietary MOSFETs and high-frequency switch-mode power supplies. Every product, from the 650 dollar Mojo 2 to the 100K Ultima reference mono blocks, runs code that Chord wrote themselves.
