System Overview

The 1.7X is one of the most complete and satisfying speakers in the Magnepan lineup. It takes the foundation of the 1.7i and enhances it with The Listening Room X-Series upgrades, including Audio Research five way binding posts, custom 3D printed base plates, and enhanced QC and driver matching. The result is a cleaner, more consistent, and more refined version of an already excellent speaker.

The 1.7X delivers the scale, clarity, and transparency people love about Magnepan, with enough bass that many listeners will not feel the immediate need for a subwoofer. Its design also makes it unusually responsive to good system synergy.

The Primare i15 Prisma MK2 gives you everything you need in one clean and powerful unit. It is easy to use and has more than enough control to drive the 1.7X properly.

Cabling: VIABLUE SC-4

The VIABLUE SC-4 is the correct cable for this system. It is flexible, well shielded, and perfectly suited for Magnepan. It avoids the stiffness issues that many cables have with planar speakers and puts no strain on the connectors.

More importantly, it maintains system synergy by staying neutral and controlled, letting the amplifier and speakers do their jobs without editorializing the sound.
