Ruark Audio is a family-owned, British audio company based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, with roots stretching back to the 1980s. Founded by Alan O'Rourke and his father Brian, a trained cabinet maker who built enclosures for pioneers of the early British hi-fi industry, the company launched its first loudspeaker, the original Sabre, to immediate critical acclaim. That foundation in precision woodworking and acoustic engineering defines everything Ruark builds today. Real wood veneers, hand-selected polymers and alloys, purpose-built drivers, and meticulous assembly set their products apart from mass-produced alternatives.
The current lineup spans the flagship 100 Series music systems (the R810, R610, and R410), compact desktop and tabletop systems like the MR1 Mk3 and R1 Mk4, and a return to their loudspeaker roots with the Sabre-R bookshelf speakers and RS1 subwoofer. Each product can take up to two years to develop, and the company continuously refines existing designs rather than chasing trends. It is one of the few audio companies that remains family-owned, British-based, and committed to building products that sound as good as they look.
