The Oracle Audio Delphi MkVII Reference sits on a 17 kg (38 lb) granite base that provides mass loading and vibration damping that acrylic cannot match. Every Reference ships with the Turbo MkII power supply included (not optional), making this the most capable Delphi configuration straight out of the box. If you're building a system where the turntable is the source and everything downstream depends on what it retrieves from the groove, this is where you start.
We recommend the Reference to customers who are serious about getting the most from their vinyl and have the system resolution to hear the difference. The granite base provides measurably better isolation from airborne vibrations and footfall, which translates to a lower noise floor, deeper bass authority, and more stable imaging. Pair that with Oracle's MVSS technology and the Turbo MkII, and you have a turntable that competes with anything at any price. This is the configuration we use when demonstrating Oracle to customers who need convincing.
Key Features of the Oracle Audio Delphi MkVII Reference Turntable
- 17 kg Custom Granite Base: Thicker and heavier than any previous Oracle granite base. Granite's natural density and non-resonant properties create an exceptionally stable foundation for the suspended sub-chassis.
- Turbo MkII Power Supply (Included): Every Reference ships with Oracle's top-tier power supply. Reduces parasitic noise to less than one millivolt with a fine-trim potentiometer for precise 24.35 VDC calibration.
- Micro Vibration Stabilizer System (MVSS): Captures and dissipates micro-vibrations within the floating sub-chassis. The most significant improvement to the Delphi platform since 1979.
- Dual Tripod Bearing: Six precision PEEK screws in offset tripod configuration. Tungsten carbide ball tip on a Glass Filled Torlon thrust plate for near-zero friction and decades of maintenance-free operation.
- Two-Piece Platter Assembly: Inner platter/spindle separates from the 4 kg outer platter for easy belt installation while reducing resonances and preserving bearing calibration.
- Tri-Pedal Suspension: Three towers, each with 12 components and 7 mechanical filters, isolate the sub-chassis from external vibrations.
- Expanded Sub-Chassis: 3.9 kg hand-brushed aluminum, skeletal design. Tonearm mounting ring widened ~35% over previous generations.
- AC Synchronous Motor: Low-voltage, impedance-matched coils, military-grade capacitors, dual current drive circuitry.
The Granite Base Advantage
The 17 kg granite base is the single biggest differentiator between the Reference and the Delphi Classic. Granite is naturally dense, non-resonant, and effective at absorbing vibration energy. When a turntable sits on a rack in a room with speakers, the rack transmits vibrations from the floor and airborne energy from the speakers. The granite pushes well past the limits of an acrylic plinth, making the turntable significantly more immune to external disturbances. The result is tighter imaging, deeper bass, and a blacker background between notes. Each base is custom-cut and polished to Oracle's specifications.
Turbo MkII Power Supply
The Turbo MkII comes standard with every Reference (it is optional on the Classic). It uses a high-current output stage and precision voltage regulation to minimize motor vibration and cogging. A fine-trim potentiometer allows precise calibration to 24.35 VDC, and parasitic noise drops below one millivolt. The practical result: tighter bass, better dynamic contrast, and a noise floor low enough to reveal details the standard supply leaves on the table. Oracle includes it because the Reference is built for customers who want full potential from day one.
MVSS: Micro Vibration Stabilizer System
The MVSS addresses vibrations from the inside out. The suspension handles external vibrations (footfall, speaker energy, room resonances), but micro-vibrations generated within the sub-chassis (motor, stylus, bearing) reflect back through the structure and color the sound. The MVSS captures and dissipates these internal vibrations before they reach the stylus. Combined with the granite base handling external vibrations and the Turbo MkII delivering clean power, the Reference attacks vibration from three directions simultaneously.
Bearing, Platter, and Drive
The dual tripod bearing uses six precision PEEK screws (three top at 120 degrees, three bottom offset 60 degrees) creating a self-centering geometry that holds accuracy over decades. Tungsten carbide ball tip on Glass Filled Torlon thrust plate with no metal-on-metal contact. The 4 kg platter, machined from 6061T6 aluminum-magnesium alloy, concentrates mass at the outer edge for maximum flywheel effect. Dual current drive circuitry provides high torque at start-up and minimum energy during playback.
Tonearm Compatibility and Dust Cover
The Reference accepts 9-inch or 10-inch tonearms via a pre-cut armboard (tonearm and cartridge not included). Oracle's Reference Tonearm is the natural companion at this level, though the Paris Tonearm is also an excellent match. The Reference is available with or without a hinged clear acrylic dust cover. Oracle's Full Dome dust cover is also available separately.
