Grado cushions are the earpads that set how a Grado headphone sounds. The cushion controls how far the driver sits from your ear, and that distance is the tuning: a flat pad close in tightens the bass and pushes the midrange forward, while a deep bowl further out opens up width and dimension. Grado treats the pad as a tuning element rather than a comfort part, which is why moving up the range changes the cushion before it changes anything else. Every wired Grado cushion is interchangeable, so this is the cheapest way to change how a Grado sounds without changing the headphone.
Six cushions cover the line. The S is standard on the SR60 and the F on the SR80, SR325 and Hemp. The L bowl is the RS1 pad, the B is the flat Signature pad on the S750 and S550, and the G is the largest Grado makes, standard on the GS1000 and GS3000.
