The Perlisten A4t is a floorstanding tower speaker, the largest in Perlisten's A-Series and the only model in the line with three 215mm carbon fiber woofers. Perlisten describes that third driver as spreading the load for demanding bass: more cone area sharing the same work, which is what lets the A4t hit 114dB peaks and stay under 3% distortion at 111dB.

Key Features of the Perlisten A4t

  • Three 215mm Carbon Fiber Woofers: The only A-Series model with a third woofer. Spreading bass across more cone area raises output and lowers distortion when the speaker is driven hard.
  • 2.5-Way Crossover: The top woofer works with the tweeter into the midrange while the lower two roll off to reproduce bass only, adding low-end output without a dedicated midrange driver.
  • 35mm Teteron Composite Dome Tweeter: Perlisten's own dome material, mounted in a waveguide developed to control its dispersion.
  • 114dB Peak Output: The highest in the A-Series, holding under 3% second and third harmonic distortion at 111dB.
  • 88.6dB Sensitivity, 4 Ohm Nominal: A 50 to 350 watt recommended power window, the widest in the A-Series.
  • Published Linearity Window: Perlisten specifies response linearity of plus or minus 2.0dB from 100Hz to 10kHz, not just a frequency range.
  • Drivers, Crossover and Cabinet Built In-House: Designed from the ground up and manufactured in Perlisten's own factory.
  • Satin Black Finish: The A-Series standard finish. Grilles are optional and sold separately.

Perlisten Engineering in the A4t

Perlisten develops everything from the ground up and manufactures it in its own factory, from the carbon fiber woofer diaphragms to the Teteron composite dome tweeter, then builds a custom crossover and cabinet around them. Nothing here is an off-the-shelf driver. Carbon fiber is the cone material for a reason: light enough to start and stop quickly, stiff enough to resist breaking up under load. That combination is what keeps bass tight rather than slow and thick when the woofers are working hard.

The A4t Waveguide and Off-Axis Performance

The 35mm Teteron dome sits in a waveguide Perlisten developed to maximize the tweeter's output and control how it disperses. The payoff shows up off-axis. Perlisten engineers the dispersion pattern to control early reflections, which means tonal balance holds together across a wide listening area instead of collapsing the moment you move out of one seat. For multichannel and immersive systems, that consistency is what keeps a sound effect coherent as it pans from one speaker to the next.

Inside the 2.5-Way Configuration

A 2.5-way is not a 3-way, and the difference matters. The top woofer runs alongside the tweeter and carries the midrange, while the two woofers below it are progressively rolled off to reproduce bass only. You get the extra cone area and output of a third driver without adding the second crossover point, and the phase behavior that comes with it, that a dedicated midrange driver would introduce. Perlisten holds the finished result to a plus or minus 2.0dB linearity window from 100Hz to 10kHz.

Cabinet, Porting and Connections

The A4t is a bass reflex design in a 1285 x 280 x 450mm cabinet, and at 450mm it is the deepest enclosure in the A-Series. Measured in free field, response reaches 35Hz at -6dB. Perlisten also publishes a typical in-room figure, where room gain carries the bottom end to 28Hz at -6dB and 19Hz at -10dB. Binding posts sit on a recessed panel at the base of the rear baffle.

Where the A4t Fits in the Perlisten A-Series

Every A-Series model uses the same 35mm Teteron dome tweeter in the same waveguide. What changes as you move up the line is how many 215mm carbon fiber woofers are behind it, and how the cabinet is loaded.

Towers: full-range floorstanders
$2,495 each
Two woofers in a ported 2-way cabinet. Peaks at 112.5dB on 50 to 300 watts. Worth knowing: its ported tuning actually reaches a little lower than the A4t, to 26Hz in room, so the step up to the A4t is about output rather than depth.

$3,495 each
Adds a third woofer and a 2.5-way crossover. That extra cone area spreads the bass load, lifting peak output to 114dB against the A3t's 112.5dB, sensitivity to 88.6dB, and the power window to 350 watts. The most headroom in the A-Series.
Monitor and surround: the rest of the A-Series
$1,795 each
Two woofers in a sealed cabinet. The A-Series monitor: run it as a stereo pair, or as left, center and right in a home theater.
$995 each
A single woofer in a sealed on-wall cabinet, built for side, rear and height channels.

The A4t is the one to take when you want every bit of output and headroom Perlisten builds into the A-Series. If you want more still, the R-Series steps up to the DPC-Array tweeter Perlisten trickles down from its flagship S-Series, a tighter linearity window and THX certification, with the R7t peaking at 116dB. Worth knowing before you assume bigger is deeper: the A4t already reaches as low in room as the R7t does.

Complete the A4t

  • A-Series Grilles: the A4t ships without grilles as standard. Add the magnetic grille if you would rather cover the drivers.
