The "M" in ML stands for Microline, the stylus shape that defines this cartridge's reference-level performance. The ML's engine is an Alnico-based, low-impedance generator—the same one found in the esteemed Umami Blue. It is wound with high-purity copper wire to achieve a low 8Ω impedance, which delivers a superior signal-to-noise ratio and ensures perfect matching with a wide variety of phono preamplifiers. In a process unique to the M series, the front yoke and other key generator components undergo cryogenic treatment. This cold annealing process restructures the metal at a molecular level, creating a more precise and controlled magnetic flux field for greater linearity and a more musical, natural sound.

The Science of Resonance Control

The ML's body is a sophisticated, multi-part design engineered to eliminate harmful vibrations. The main body is injection-molded from Delrin©, a high-tech polymer renowned for its exceptional mechanical characteristics and resonance damping properties. This inert foundation is capped with a CNC-machined brass plate. This brass cap creates a constrained-mode layer damping system, and its added mass (bringing the cartridge to 9.5g) provides a superior mechanical coupling to the tonearm. This combination reveals more low-level information and dramatically enhances dynamic range and bass impact.

HANA has designed the ML for both sonic excellence and ease of use. Gone are the days of fumbling with tiny nuts and bolts. The Delrin© cartridge body features integrated metal threaded fittings, allowing you to mount the cartridge directly to your headshell with the supplied bolts. This not only makes installation simple and secure, but it also creates a much more rigid and superior mechanical interface, ensuring that all the micro-vibrations from the groove are faithfully transferred into the cartridge's generator, not lost in the headshell connection.
