The Rega RB880 Tonearm is a hand-assembled precision component, designed to extract the finest detail from your vinyl. Built in the UK with carefully selected bearings and a low-mass aluminium arm tube, it delivers exceptional tracking and minimal resonance. With its redesigned bearing housing and rigid three-point mounting system, the RB880 provides straightforward installation and consistent performance. Every element is engineered to preserve signal purity and convey music with clarity, timing and natural presence.
Key Features
-
Low-mass aluminium tonearm tube: Redesigned to redistribute mass and reduce resonance for cleaner tracking.
-
Hand-selected bearings: Ultra-low friction ball bearings are individually matched for precise, stable motion.
-
Bias adjustment slider: Simple, reliable anti-skating control for correct tracking behaviour.
-
Low-capacitance phono cable: Factory-fitted cable with high-specification plugs to maintain signal integrity.
-
3-point mounting system: Rega’s standard mounting for rigid, accurate installation on compatible decks.
- Integrated arm clip: Redesigned clip provides a secure and elegant resting point for the arm.
Precision Engineering
At the heart of the RB880 is Rega’s refined bearing housing which holds hand-selected ball bearings to micron tolerances. This attention to mechanical detail eliminates perceptible play and reduces friction, allowing the arm to follow groove modulations with superb accuracy. The overall result is improved imaging, lower distortion and a quieter mechanical background so musical detail can emerge.
Signal Integrity
The RB880 uses a bespoke low-capacitance phono cable terminated with high-quality plugs to reduce signal loss between the cartridge and your phono stage. Combined with the arm’s rigid construction and low mass, this maintained signal path helps preserve dynamics, timbral accuracy and fine ambient information across the frequency range.
Effortless Setup
Designed with practical use in mind, the RB880 includes a bias adjustment slider and Rega’s three-point mounting system for quick, secure alignment. These features make installation and routine setup straightforward while ensuring the arm maintains optimal geometry and tracking over time.
Where the RB880 Comes Fitted
Rega fits the RB880 to the Planar 8 and to both versions of the Planar 6 RS: the RS Edition with the Nd9 moving magnet, and the Planar 6 RS AFC with the Ania moving coil and the Fono MC MK4 phono stage included.

What does the RB880 add over the RB330?
What does the RB880 add over the RB330?
A new aluminum vertical bearing housing, and a redesigned sleeve and vertical bearing shaft in stainless steel, which Rega says improve mounting stability and rigidity. Rega also uses hand-matched bearing assemblies, a thinner stainless steel balance weight for wider cartridge compatibility, and a low-capacitance phono cable with two-part locking plugs. The RB330 has the same geometry.

Rega fits it to the Planar 8 and the Planar 6 RS Edition.
Will the RB880 fit my turntable?
Will the RB880 fit my turntable?
On any Rega deck with the three-point arm mounting it is a straight swap, with no modification. On an older single-nut Rega or another maker's deck, position it with Rega's template, 222mm from the spindle, and check with the turntable's maker before drilling; Rega notes that each maker may route the arm lead differently.
How is the RB880 set up?
How is the RB880 set up?
Set the tracking force dial and bias to zero, balance the arm with the weight, then dial in your cartridge's tracking force on the 0 to 3 scale and set the bias to match; Rega says 1.5 to 2.0 suits most moving magnets. The arm has 11g of effective mass, 236.5mm effective length and 14.5mm overhang. For thicker cartridges, Rega's 2mm three-point spacer raises the arm.
