The Oracle Audio Delphi MkVII Reference is the Delphi on Oracle's heaviest granite base to date: just over 38 pounds, thicker and heavier than any granite base Oracle has offered before. It ships only with the Turbo MkII power supply, calibrated to 24.35 volts DC, over the same MkVII platform as the Delphi MkVII Classic: MVSS damping, a dual tripod bearing and a 4 kg two-piece platter.
Oracle's case for the granite is anchoring. A heavier base ties the suspended Delphi more firmly to its surroundings, and Oracle reports more detail across the spectrum, imaging with more perspective and clarity, and more authority in the bass. It is the one Delphi MkVII that changes the foundation and the power supply at once.
Mass. The Reference replaces the Classic's clear acrylic base with Oracle's custom-built 17 kg granite base, just over 38 pounds and the thickest, heaviest granite base Oracle has made. Oracle says the extra mass anchors the Delphi better to its environment, with more detail across the spectrum, clearer imaging and more authority and volume in the bass.

Everything above the base is shared with the Classic, so the granite is the variable you are paying for, together with the Turbo MkII. It also changes the weight: the Reference comes to 30.9 kg (68 lbs) in total, against 16 kg for the acrylic-base Classic, so plan the rack for it.
Because Oracle offers no other supply on this model. The Turbo MkII brings ripple down to under one millivolt, from 120 millivolts on the first Turbo, which Oracle names as the main source of its sonic gain, and a fine-trim potentiometer calibrates the output to 24.35 volts DC for a smoother, lower-vibration motor.

The original Turbo arrived with the Delphi MkV in 1996. Oracle developed the MkII against other reference sources, special batteries among them, and says it outperformed them all. It is an outboard box, 210 x 184 x 70 mm, with a removable power cord. On the Classic it is an option; here it is in the box, and the same supply is sold separately as the Turbo Power Supply.
Yes. Oracle sells the MkVII Reference granite base as an upgrade for existing Delphi MkV and MkVI turntables, so an older Delphi can take the same foundation without replacing the whole deck. If you own one of those and want the base rather than a new turntable, send Mike your serial number and he will confirm the fit with Oracle.
The Micro Vibration Stabilizer System damps vibration inside the floating sub-chassis, where the granite and the suspension cannot reach. Three tapered plungers under the sub-chassis dip into silicone reservoirs beside the suspension towers. Each full turn moves a plunger 1.27 mm, and Oracle's best results came at 1 1/2 to 2 turns, 1.90 to 2.54 mm deep.
That internal energy comes from the stylus tracing the groove, the bearing and the motor. Left alone, it reflects back to the stylus. The MVSS captures it without short-circuiting the suspension, and Oracle calls it the single most significant improvement made to its turntable since 1979. The plungers lock in place with a threaded ring once they are set by ear.
The dual tripod bearing uses six precision PEEK screws: three at the top, 120 degrees apart, and three at the bottom, offset 60 degrees. A tungsten carbide ball tip rests on a non-metallic Glass Filled Torlon thrust plate, which Oracle credits with limiting the noise the spinning platter generates. The 4 kg platter is 6061T6 aluminum-magnesium alloy.
The platter comes in two pieces, a light inner hub and the main ring. The belt goes on the hub first, then the ring is lowered on top, so the bearing calibration is never disturbed, and the coupling of the two reduces platter resonances. Most of the mass sits at the outer edge for a flywheel effect, and the finish is diamond-cut. Oracle's record clamp and a hard acrylic mat, formulated to match the vinyl disc, come standard.
The motor is a low-voltage AC synchronous unit with impedance-matched coils. Its drive module is a precision frequency generator with military-grade capacitors and a calibration stage for the positive and negative sine wave voltages, and dual current drive circuitry gives full torque at start-up and minimum energy while running. A molded belt drives the platter at 33 1/3 and 45 RPM, and Oracle sets every calibration at the factory.
Three suspension towers carry the sub-chassis, platter and tonearm, each combining 12 components and 7 mechanical filters. The springs are color coded by strength (yellow, red, green and blue), and a counterweight on the sub-chassis adds mass at the front left tower to balance the tonearm. The sub-chassis is 3.9 kg of hand-brushed, clear-lacquered aluminum.

It is larger than earlier generations for better weight and mass distribution and a more accurate suspension calibration, its legs are shorter, and the tonearm mounting ring support is about 35 percent wider for rigidity. The counterweight also helps reduce resonances inside the sub-chassis.
The Reference comes with a pre-cut tonearm board that Oracle says accommodates almost any 9-inch tonearm; tonearm and cartridge are not included. Dust covers are chosen on this listing: none, a hinged clear acrylic cover with aluminum hinges, or Oracle's Full Dome cover, which covers the whole turntable and measures 19.75 x 15.25 x 8.5 inches.
Oracle's own Reference Tonearm is the natural companion at this level, and the Paris Tonearm also fits. The suspension is balanced to the arm's mass with the sub-chassis counterweight and the choice of springs, so the arm is part of the setup rather than an afterthought. The Full Dome lifts clear rather than hinging and ships in a separate box; the Full Dome cover is also sold on its own.

The Reference is the Delphi for mass: granite under the same platform, Turbo MkII in the box. The Signature trades the granite for a lit black acrylic base. Browse the full Oracle Audio turntable range, or see the Oracle tonearms. Parts for this turntable: Oracle drive belts.

The base, and what the base does. Oracle describes the MkVII Reference granite base as thicker and heavier than any granite base it has offered before, at just over 38 pounds so the turntable sits on a heavier, better anchored foundation. The Delphi MkVII Classic shares the rest of the platform: MVSS, the dual tripod bearing, the tri-pedal suspension, the 4 kg platter. The Reference also comes with the Turbo MkII power supply, which is an option on the Classic.
Yes. Oracle offers the MkVII Reference granite base as an upgrade for existing Delphi Mk V and Mk VI turntables, so an older deck can take the Reference foundation without replacing the whole turntable. Get in touch with Mike with your serial number and he will confirm the fit with Oracle before anything is ordered.
It cleans up what reaches the motor. Oracle brought parasitic ripple in the supply down to less than one millivolt, from 120 millivolts on the original Turbo, and added a fine-trim potentiometer so the output can be calibrated to 24.35 volts DC. Oracle credits the Turbo MkII's sonic improvement mainly to that lower ripple.
The armboard is pre-cut for almost any 9-inch tonearm, and Oracle widened the tonearm mounting ring support by about 35 percent over previous generations to stiffen that junction. Oracle's own Paris Tonearm is a 9-inch arm with 8.5 grams of effective mass and a 212mm mounting distance. Tonearm and cartridge are not included, and arm mass has to be matched to cartridge compliance on a suspended deck, so get in touch with Mike before choosing.
Two, and neither is mandatory. Both are options on this page: a hinged clear acrylic dust cover with aluminum hinges, or Oracle's Full Dome cover, which lifts clear rather than hinging, so nothing stays attached to the plinth during play.
