The Primare 928 Special Edition Stereo Amplifier is a two-channel power amplifier built for Primare's 40th-anniversary 928 series. It pairs a massive switch-mode power supply with Hypex Ncore amplification to deliver 300 watts into 8 ohms and 600 watts into 4 ohms. It shares the Porsche 928-inspired wedge chassis Primare introduced on its very first product in 1986.

Stereo, for the First Time in the 928 Line
The original 928 was a separates system anchored by mono power amplifiers. The Special Edition adds a stereo amplifier to the range. As Terry Medalen of Primare puts it: "In the original 928 we only had a mono amplifier, a pair of mono amps. But for this series we decided to do stereo. And so by doing a stereo amplifier we're able to allow more people to enjoy the 928 series."
Power and Supply
A massive switch-mode power supply feeds Hypex Ncore amplification, rated at 300 watts into 8 ohms and 600 watts into 4 ohms. That is enough current to drive demanding loudspeakers without the bulk and heat of a traditional linear-supply design.
Why the Wedge
The slanted profile is not styling for its own sake. The wedge shape lets Primare integrate and isolate the circuitry inside the chassis while keeping signal paths short, the same engineering logic that shaped the original 928.
