The Chord Electronics 2go turns the Hugo 2 from a USB-tethered DAC into a wireless streaming powerhouse with 4TB of local music storage, all in a module that locks onto the back of the Hugo 2 and adds barely any weight to the package. Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Roon Ready certification, and a battery that runs for eight hours on a charge. No laptop required. Pair it with the 2yu digital interface and the combination becomes a standalone network bridge for any DAC in your system.

Key Features of the Chord Electronics 2go

  • Transforms the Hugo 2 into a wireless streaming DAC with no laptop or USB connection required
  • Gigabit Ethernet and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for wired or wireless network audio streaming
  • Bluetooth 4.1 A2DP for wireless playback from phones and tablets
  • 2x microSD card slots supporting up to 4TB total onboard music storage
  • Roon Ready certified with DLNA, AirPlay, Tidal, Qobuz, and internet radio support
  • PCM up to 768kHz and DSD up to DSD256 via DoP (Digital over PCM)
  • 8-hour battery life with desktop mode via micro USB for permanent installations
  • GoFigure app (iOS and Android) for setup, network configuration, and playback control
  • CNC-machined aluminum chassis at just 50mm x 100mm x 21mm, weighing 159g
  • Available in Black and Silver to match the Hugo 2 finish

How the 2go Connects to the Hugo 2

The 2go attaches directly to the Hugo 2's rear panel via two micro USB outputs and two connector pins. Two locking screws secure the connection, creating what looks and feels like a single device. The combined unit weighs 549g and maintains the same width and height as the Hugo 2 alone. No cables between the two. No adapters. The 2go feeds digital audio directly into the Hugo 2's input, and the Hugo 2 handles all digital-to-analog conversion through its Rob Watts-designed FPGA.

Once connected, every playback source the 2go supports (Wi-Fi streaming, Bluetooth, Ethernet, microSD cards) routes through the Hugo 2's DAC circuitry. The Hugo 2's volume control, crossfeed filter, and headphone/line outputs all function exactly as they do in standalone USB mode.

Network Streaming on the Chord Electronics 2go

The 2go's triple-core audio processor handles all network streaming duties. Connect to your home network over Gigabit Ethernet for the most stable connection, or use 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for cable-free operation. The GoFigure app handles initial network setup: connect to the 2go's hotspot, enter your Wi-Fi credentials, and the module joins your network automatically.

Roon Ready certification means the 2go appears as an endpoint in your Roon interface, inheriting Roon's library management, DSP, and multi-room capabilities. DLNA support covers UPnP control points like BubbleUPnP and mconnect. AirPlay lets you stream from any Apple device. Tidal and Qobuz stream natively without a separate app acting as intermediary.

Local Music Storage

Two microSD card slots on the 2go accept up to 2TB each, giving you 4TB of onboard music storage. The 2go runs an MPD (Media Player Daemon) server, which means other devices on your network can browse and play music stored on the microSD cards using any MPD-compatible app. Load your FLAC library onto a pair of microSD cards and the Hugo 2 + 2go combination becomes a completely self-contained music system. No NAS, no computer, no network share required.

Supported formats include WAV, FLAC, AIFF, ALAC, OGG Vorbis, AAC, WMA, and MP3. Gapless playback works across all formats.

Battery and Desktop Mode

The internal battery provides approximately eight hours of playback on a single charge when paired with the Hugo 2. Both units run on battery simultaneously, which eliminates mains power noise from the signal path entirely. For permanent desktop or rack installations, plug in a micro USB cable and the 2go switches to desktop mode, keeping the battery topped up while streaming continuously.

The 2go + 2yu Network Bridge

Adding the 2yu digital interface to the 2go creates Chord's first network bridge. The 2yu bolts onto the 2go (instead of the Hugo 2) and provides USB, BNC coaxial, RCA coaxial, and optical digital outputs. This means the 2go's streaming and storage capabilities feed any DAC in your system, not just the Hugo 2. Connect the 2go/2yu stack to a Qutest, an M Scaler, or a third-party DAC and you have a Roon Ready network streamer with 4TB of local storage.

Where the 2go Fits in the Chord Lineup

The 2go is the streaming and storage module for the Hugo range. The Poly serves the same function for the Mojo 2 in the Mobile range, with similar Wi-Fi and microSD capabilities in an even smaller package. For listeners who want streaming built into their DAC rather than added as a module, the Hugo TT2 in the Table Top range accepts digital inputs from any external streamer. The 2go is for Hugo 2 owners who want to cut the USB cable without changing their DAC.
