The Audia Flight CD Three S is a dedicated CD player built in Italy with the same obsessive engineering that defines the Three S line. Twin toroidal transformers (58VA analog, 36VA digital) feed fully separated power supplies, while a Class A discrete current feedback output stage and ESS SABRE ES9026PRO 32-bit DACs handle signal conversion with a 126dB dynamic range. This is disc playback done right, with no shortcuts and no shared circuits.
KEY FEATURES
- ESS SABRE ES9026PRO 32-bit DACs: Seven selectable digital filters for PCM signals let you fine-tune the sonic character to your preference
- Dual Toroidal Transformers: Separate 58VA (analog) and 36VA (digital) transformers eliminate cross-contamination between stages
- Class A Discrete Output Stage: Current feedback topology delivers low distortion and wide bandwidth
- Optimized Single-Speed CD Drive: Purpose-built transport mechanism for precise disc reading
- Blue OLED Display: Clean, readable status information on a 10mm-thick machined aluminum front panel
- Balanced and Unbalanced Outputs: XLR and RCA connections with 2.5Vrms maximum output
- Optional Digital Input Board: Adds five digital inputs including asynchronous USB supporting 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD512
- Solid Aluminum Remote: Color-matched to front panel finish (silver or black)
ITALIAN ENGINEERING, NO COMPROMISE
Audia Flight builds every unit in Italy with hand-selected components and meticulous assembly. The CD Three S shares its design philosophy with the Three S Integrated Amplifier, making them a natural pairing. The fully isolated analog and digital power supplies mean the transport mechanism and DAC stage never compete for clean power, and the Class A output stage ensures the signal stays pure from laser to output jack.
EXPAND WITH THE DIGITAL INPUT BOARD
The optional Digital Input Board transforms the CD Three S into a full digital hub. It adds an XLR AES/EBU input, coaxial S/PDIF, two optical inputs, and an asynchronous USB connection capable of 32-bit/384kHz PCM and native DSD512. If you want a single chassis handling both disc playback and external digital sources, this is the way to do it. For vinyl enthusiasts, the Three S Add-On Phono Board pairs with the integrated amplifier to complete an all-Audia Flight system.

Can I add digital inputs to the CD Three S later?
Can I add digital inputs to the CD Three S later?
Yes. Audia Flight's optional digital input board turns it into a standalone DAC with five inputs: two optical, AES/EBU, coaxial and USB. The USB input accepts PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD512, every input is galvanically isolated, and Audia says the board can be retrofitted at any time.
Can the CD Three S connect straight to a power amplifier?
Can the CD Three S connect straight to a power amplifier?
Yes. Its output can be set fixed or variable, and in variable mode the remote adjusts the level on a 0 to 100 scale, in the digital domain. The fully balanced, class A output stage has both XLR and RCA outputs, usable at the same time; Audia advises balanced cables when the amplifier is not close by, to avoid noise.
What do the digital filters do?
What do the digital filters do?
Audia offers seven, each with its own roll-off frequency and slope that change the sound slightly; filter 4, fast roll-off minimum phase, is the default. It uses an ESS Sabre ES9026PRO 32-bit DAC. All settings are made from the remote using its SET, + and - keys, and they are stored.
CD Three S or FLS20?
CD Three S or FLS20?
The FLS20 is Audia Flight's SACD player: a top-loading design with dual mono DACs, four digital inputs and an optional streaming board. The CD Three S is a CD player with a single-speed CD transport, two separate toroidal power supplies and an optional digital input board, in the same 450mm-wide chassis as the Three S integrated amplifier.
How should the CD Three S be set up?
How should the CD Three S be set up?
Leave 10cm around it for ventilation. The unit is built for a specific mains voltage, marked on the rear panel. Audia runs each player for fifty hours before shipping and advises another two hundred hours of play to run it in. The coaxial digital output carries 16-bit/44.1kHz, and 3.5mm trigger jacks let it switch on with other equipment.
