"Image stability and soundstage solidity were both good too." "If you buy an Origine MKII (it’s also available in white) and like the sound, your budget is the limit as far as to where you can take this turntable’s sonic performance."

The Oracle Audio Origine Mk2 is a belt-drive turntable built around a one-piece acrylic platter, an AC synchronous motor, and a bearing system descended from the flagship Delphi. It ships with Oracle's own Origine unipivot tonearm pre-installed and factory-calibrated, and Oracle says every unit is speed-calibrated at the factory before it leaves Canada. Pick a black or white plinth in single or dual layer, one of 12 acrylic insert colors, and whether the LED lighting and dust cover come in the box. Add a cartridge and Mike hand-mounts and aligns it before the turntable ships.
The Origine Mk2 is where most of our customers start with Oracle. The acrylic sandwich is more than decoration; the inserts add a level of damping to the plinth. We recommend the Origine Mk2 to first-time turntable buyers who want something built to last, and to experienced listeners who recognize the Oracle engineering underneath the color options.
"We have been making turntables since 1979 ... and believe me we still design and build them with the same care and passion that has been driving us from day one."
Key Features of the Oracle Origine Mk2
- Included Origine Unipivot Tonearm: Oracle's own design with 240mm effective length, Cardas internal wiring, and a fixed internal arm tube weight for roughly 20 grams of effective mass
- One-Piece Acrylic Platter: Derived from the Paris Mk V turntable, providing consistent mass distribution and resonance control
- Delphi-Derived Bearing: Two-bushing spindle holder with Torlon thrust plate, descended from the original Delphi main bearing
- AC Synchronous Motor: Outboard belt-drive motor with 18V AC external power supply and two-step crowned pulley for 33 1/3 and 45 RPM
- 12 Acrylic Insert Colors: Six transparent neon and six matte colors on a black or white Delrin plinth
- Single or Dual Layer: Single layer uses one color insert; dual layer adds two layers in your chosen color over a black insert
- LED Lighting and Dust Cover: Choose either or both when you order; they ship in the box with the turntable
- Factory Speed Calibration: Oracle checks every Origine on the production line with Dr. Feickert Adjust+ software, according to owner Jacques Riendeau
- Cartridge Mounted by Mike: Add a Goldring E4, Hana EL, Hana EH, Hana SL MK II, or Hana SH MK II and Mike hand-mounts and aligns it before shipping
Bearing, Platter and Drive
The two-bushing spindle holder traces directly to the original Delphi's main bearing: a steel spindle in a dual-bushing system on a Torlon thrust plate, built for low friction and long life. The one-piece acrylic platter comes from the Paris Mk V. An outboard AC synchronous motor on an 18V AC external supply sits outside the plinth to keep its vibration away from the platter and arm, driving a precision-ground flat belt around the platter's edge from a two-step crowned pulley for 33 1/3 and 45 RPM.
How Does Oracle Build the Origine Mk2?
Every Origine is designed, crafted and assembled at Oracle's own factory in Canada. The parts are cut in-house on CNC machines from Delrin and acrylic, not 3D printed, and the plinth is polished by hand. The ribbed texture on the Delrin parts is deliberate: Oracle chose it for looks and design reasons and developed custom cutting tools to make it.
How Is the Origine Mk2's Speed Set?
Speed is set and checked at the factory. Oracle runs every Origine through Dr. Feickert Adjust+ on the production line to make sure each one is running correctly before it ships, whether or not it is ordered with a cartridge. The two-step pulley switches between 33 1/3 and 45 RPM, and a Calibrator strobe disc comes in the box.
The Origine Unipivot Tonearm
Every Origine Mk2 ships with Oracle's Origine unipivot tonearm, factory-installed and calibrated. The tonearm body is machined from Delrin with a 6061-T6 aluminum pivot shaft and an aluminum arm tube with internal damping. At 240mm effective length, the arm uses a pivot-to-spindle distance of 223mm, with the pivot point set on the same plane as the record for stability. Earlier Origine arms used a sliding weight on the tube that Oracle called the olive; the current arm uses a fixed weight inside the arm tube instead, for an effective mass of roughly 20 grams. Internal wiring is by Cardas Audio, terminating at an RCA junction box. A silicone-damped cueing mechanism, raised and lowered with a knob, provides controlled stylus drops.
Which Cartridges Can I Order With the Origine Mk2?
The Origine Mk2 does not come with a cartridge, so you can add one when you order: the Goldring E4 moving magnet, or the Hana EL, Hana EH, Hana SL MK II, or Hana SH MK II moving coils. Whichever you choose, Mike hand-mounts and aligns it on the arm before the turntable ships, so it arrives ready to play. If you already own a cartridge, order the turntable on its own; the arm is fully adjustable for overhang, VTA, azimuth, and tracking force.
Do I Need a Phono Preamp for the Origine Mk2?
Yes. A turntable puts out a low phono-level signal, so it needs a phono stage before your amplifier, and a moving coil cartridge like the Hana models needs one built for MC. Oracle's own PH100 MkIII phono preamplifier is a natural match for the Origine and can be added right on this page. If your amplifier or receiver already has a phono input, check whether it supports moving coil before you choose a cartridge.
Plinth Design and Color Options
The plinth shares its footprint with the flagship Delphi and is machined Delrin with a ribbed finish, in black or white. An acrylic insert layer slides into it in one of 12 colors: six transparent and neon colors that glow with the LED lighting, and six matte colors for a quieter contrast against the plinth.

Single layer uses one color insert. Dual layer adds two layers in your chosen color over a black insert, three inserts in total, for more depth. One color is chosen per turntable, and extra inserts change the look later.

The LED lighting module mounts behind the plinth, connects inline with the motor power cord, and lights the transparent inserts from within, with a dimmer for brightness.

Does the Origine Mk2 Come With a Dust Cover?
Only if you choose it. The Origine dust cover is a full acrylic cover built for this turntable, and when you pick a package that includes it, Oracle ships it in the box with the turntable. The same goes for the LED lighting. Pick the package that fits: turntable only, with LED lighting, with the dust cover, or with both.

Does the Origine Mk2 come with a cartridge?
Does the Origine Mk2 come with a cartridge?
No. Oracle ships the Origine Mk2 with its unipivot tonearm installed and calibrated, but no cartridge. You can add a Goldring E4, Hana EL, Hana EH, Hana SL MK II, or Hana SH MK II when you order, and Mike hand-mounts and aligns it on the arm before the turntable ships. If you already have a cartridge, the arm adjusts for overhang, VTA, azimuth, and tracking force. The current arm uses a fixed weight inside the arm tube for an effective mass of roughly 20 grams.
Are the dust cover and LED lighting add-ons?
Are the dust cover and LED lighting add-ons?
No. Both are part of how the turntable is configured, and Oracle ships them in the box with it. Choose turntable only, with LED lighting, with the dust cover, or with both. The Origine dust cover is a full acrylic cover made for this turntable; it is not the hinged cover used on other Oracle models.
What is the difference between single layer and dual layer?
What is the difference between single layer and dual layer?
Single layer has one acrylic insert in the color you choose. Dual layer adds two layers in your chosen color over a black insert, three inserts in total, for a deeper look. You choose one color per turntable. Extra inserts are sold separately if you want to change it later.
How do I know the Origine Mk2 is running at the right speed?
How do I know the Origine Mk2 is running at the right speed?
Oracle checks it before it ships: every Origine goes through Dr. Feickert Adjust+ on the production line. If you ever want to confirm it at home, the supplied Calibrator strobe disc shows the speed. In the rare case it reads slightly fast, the fix is simple: move the motor about 1/8 to 1/4 inch farther from the plinth. The two-step pulley switches between 33 1/3 and 45 RPM.
What phono preamplifier pairs with the Origine Mk2?
What phono preamplifier pairs with the Origine Mk2?
Oracle's own PH100 MkIII is the natural companion from the same workshop. Step to the PH200 if you plan to run low-output moving coil cartridges.
