The Oracle Audio Origine Mk2 is a belt-drive turntable built around a one-piece acrylic platter, an AC synchronous motor, and a bearing system descended from the flagship Delphi. It ships with Oracle's own Origine unipivot tonearm pre-installed and factory-calibrated, making it a complete, ready-to-play analog source. Choose from 12 interchangeable acrylic insert colors across transparent neon and solid matte finishes, with single-layer or dual-layer plinth configurations and an optional LED lighting module that illuminates the transparent inserts from within. The Origine Mk2 delivers serious engineering in a package you can personalize to your room and your taste.

The Origine Mk2 is how most of our customers discover Oracle. At $2,455, it competes with turntables from Rega, Pro-Ject, and VPI, but it ships with an Oracle-designed unipivot tonearm pre-installed and factory-calibrated, a bearing descended from the Delphi, and 12 interchangeable color options that no other turntable manufacturer offers. The customization is not just visual. The dual-layer plinth option adds mass and rigidity, and the optional LED module turns the transparent inserts into something you actually want to show off. We recommend the Origine Mk2 to first-time turntable buyers who want something built to last, and to experienced listeners who recognize the Oracle engineering underneath the color options.

Key Features of the Oracle Origine Mk2

  • Included Origine Unipivot Tonearm: Oracle's own design with 240mm effective length, Cardas internal wiring, and adjustable effective mass via the movable "olive" counterweight
  • One-Piece Acrylic Platter: Derived from the Paris Mk V turntable, providing consistent mass distribution and resonance control
  • Delphi-Derived Bearing: Two-bushing spindle holder with Torlon thrust plate, descended from the original Delphi main bearing
  • AC Synchronous Motor: Outboard belt-drive motor with 18V AC external power supply and two-step crowned pulley for 33 1/3 and 45 RPM
  • 12 Acrylic Insert Colors: Six transparent neon and six solid matte colors, all easily interchangeable
  • Black or White Plinth: Delrin plinth available in black or white to complement your insert color choice
  • Single or Dual Layer: Single-layer for a clean look, dual-layer for added visual depth and mass
  • Optional LED Lighting: Illuminates the transparent acrylic inserts from within, with dimmer control
  • Adjustable Delrin Feet: Derived from Oracle's CD player platform for precise leveling
  • Handcrafted in Canada: Every unit assembled by hand at Oracle's Sherbrooke, Quebec facility

Bearing Design and Platter Construction

The Origine Mk2's platter bearing is a two-bushing spindle holder that traces its lineage directly to the original Delphi turntable's main bearing. The steel platter spindle rides in this dual-bushing system with a Torlon thrust plate at the base, engineered for low friction and long-term durability. Oracle has documented examples of this bearing design still performing flawlessly after more than three decades of use. The one-piece acrylic platter was adapted from the Paris Mk V, giving the Origine Mk2 consistent mass distribution and damping characteristics typically found on turntables at a higher price point.

Motor and Drive System

Power comes from an outboard AC synchronous motor running on an 18V AC external power supply. The motor sits outside the plinth to isolate vibration from the platter and tonearm assembly. A precision-ground flat rubber belt rides along the platter's outer edge, driven by a stepped, crowned pulley atop the motor. The two-step pulley allows quick switching between 33 1/3 and 45 RPM without electronic speed controls. Urethane decoupling feet on the motor housing further reduce vibration transfer to the playing surface.

The Origine Unipivot Tonearm

Every Origine Mk2 ships with Oracle's Origine unipivot tonearm, factory-installed and calibrated. The tonearm body is machined from Delrin with a 6061-T6 aluminum pivot shaft and an aluminum arm tube with internal damping. At 240mm effective length, the arm uses a pivot-to-spindle distance of 223mm. The "olive," a movable weight on the arm tube, lets you adjust effective mass to match a wide range of cartridge compliances. Whether you're running a high-compliance moving magnet or a low-compliance moving coil, the olive system lets you fine-tune the mechanical match. Internal wiring is by Cardas Audio, terminating at an RCA junction box. Anti-skating is set via a set screw, and a silicon-damped cueing mechanism provides controlled stylus drops.

Plinth Design and Color Options

The Origine Mk2's plinth shares its footprint with the flagship Delphi but uses a layered acrylic construction that opens up visual customization unlike anything else in the turntable world. The plinth itself is machined Delrin with a ribbed texture finish, available in black or white. Into that plinth slides an interchangeable acrylic insert layer, and Oracle offers 12 colors across two families.

Transparent / Neon Inserts

These translucent acrylic inserts are the most popular choice, especially when paired with the optional LED lighting module. Light passes through them, creating a glow effect that shifts depending on ambient lighting and LED color temperature.

  • Neon Red
  • Neon Orange
  • Transparent Yellow
  • Neon Green
  • Transparent Blue
  • Neon Blue

Solid / Matte Inserts

For a more understated look, Oracle offers solid opaque inserts that provide a clean contrast against the black or white plinth. These work well in listening rooms where you want the turntable to blend with your furniture rather than stand out.

  • White
  • Black
  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Blue

Single Layer vs. Dual Layer

The single-layer configuration offers a clean, minimalist look with one acrylic insert. The dual-layer version stacks two inserts for added visual depth, additional mass, and a more substantial presence. You can mix colors across layers in a dual-layer build for a unique look.

LED Lighting Module

The optional LED lighting module mounts behind the plinth and connects inline with the motor power cord. It illuminates the transparent acrylic inserts from within, with a dimmer control for adjusting brightness to your preference. The effect is particularly striking with the neon inserts, turning the turntable into a visual centerpiece.

Want extra inserts? Additional acrylic insert layers can be purchased separately through the Oracle Audio Acrylic Insert for Origine ($120 each), so you can swap colors whenever the mood strikes.

Dust Cover Options

The Origine Mk2 does not include a dust cover, but Oracle offers two options that fit the turntable perfectly. The Oracle Audio Hinged Dust Cover (available as an add-on below with 10% off) provides easy access while protecting your turntable when not in use. For full enclosure protection, the Oracle Audio Full Dome Dust Cover fits all Oracle turntables.

Upgrade Path

The Origine Mk2 is designed to grow with your system. The Oracle Turbo Power Supply replaces the standard wall adapter with a regulated, low-noise AC supply for improved speed stability. Oracle also offers replacement drive belts for routine maintenance.
