Description
Description
The Rega Replay is a manual belt-drive turntable that brings Rega's hand-built English engineering to a $395 starting price, with a factory-fitted cartridge and a tonearm you set by hand in under a minute. It borrows the low-mass skeletal plinth thinking from Rega's flagship decks and shares the RB110 tonearm and Carbon moving magnet cartridge with the Planar 1, stripped back to the parts that move the music.
Key Features of the Rega Replay
- Skeletal plinth: A laminated, high-rigidity, low-mass design with a black MDF core, the same engineering approach Rega uses in the Planar 8, Planar 10 and Naia
- Hand-assembled RB110 tonearm: Patented ultra-low-friction bearings and an ergonomically redesigned headshell
- Factory-fitted Carbon cartridge: A Rega Carbon moving magnet, mounted and aligned at the factory, with a replaceable stylus
- Plug-and-play balance weight: The 111 g weight pushes onto the arm until it stops, so there is no tracking force or bias to set
- 23 mm phenolic platter: A higher-mass platter for a flywheel effect, with a custom two-sided mat
- 24V low-noise motor: A synchronous motor with a CNC-machined aluminum pulley and Rega's EBLT Advanced drive belt
- Performance brass main bearing: A factory-sealed precision bearing in a brass housing, patent pending
- Custom removable dustcover: A minimal cover that lifts away, with an anti-rotational device
- Ready in under a minute: Rega designed the Replay to be set up and playing in under 60 seconds
Rega Engineering, From the Start
The Replay is handmade in England and was developed over three years as Rega's new entry point into vinyl. Rega designed it with both first-time turntable owners and experienced vinyl enthusiasts in mind, keeping the low-mass, rigid construction its more expensive decks are built around.
Rega has built turntables in England since 1973, and the thinking behind the Replay runs straight through the range. The low-mass skeletal plinth echoes the Planar 8, Planar 10 and Naia, where reducing mass is the point rather than adding it. The Replay brings that philosophy to an entirely new price category for Rega.
A Skeletal Plinth That Does More With Less
The Replay's plinth is a laminated, high-rigidity, low-mass skeletal structure built around a black MDF core. Rega's reasoning is that heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy, such as motor or bearing noise, into the rotating record, and its most ambitious turntables, the Planar 8, Planar 10 and Naia, follow the same approach. At the center sits a factory-sealed precision main bearing in a performance brass housing, with a patent pending on the design. The Replay stands on a new three-foot isolation assembly, and one of those three feet is the motor module itself.
The Hand-Assembled RB110 Tonearm
The Replay carries the RB110 tonearm, hand-assembled with Rega's patented ultra-low-friction bearings and an ergonomically redesigned headshell. Its 111 g balance weight is plug-and-play: you push it onto the back of the arm until it stops, and the tracking force is set. There is no arm to balance and no anti-skate to dial in. The bias is factory pre-set and is not adjustable, which is a deliberate choice to take the guesswork out of setup for a first-time owner.
A Factory-Fitted Carbon Cartridge
Every Replay ships with a Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge already mounted and aligned at the factory, so there is no cartridge to install, align or wire. The stylus is replaceable when it wears, and a Carbon Pro upgrade stylus is available when you want to take the same cartridge body further. The output runs through a fixed phono RCA cable with an internal earth carried on the left channel.
23 mm Phenolic Platter and 24V Motor
A 23 mm phenolic resin platter gives the Replay a flywheel effect that helps hold speed steady, driven by a 24V low-noise synchronous motor through Rega's EBLT Advanced drive belt and a CNC-machined aluminum pulley. The motor module carries its own power switch, power input and ventilation, and doubles as one of the turntable's three feet. You change between 33 and 45 RPM by moving the belt on the pulley by hand.
What You Need to Play the Replay
The Replay is a pure turntable with no built-in phono stage and no wireless connectivity. To play it, you connect it to an amplifier or receiver that has a moving magnet (MM) phono input, or to a separate MM phono stage sitting between the turntable and your amp. It runs from an external Rega PS2 power supply, and the removable dustcover is included.
Where the Replay Fits in the Rega Turntable Line
The Replay is Rega's new entry point. The Planar 1 adds a full-size plinth, and each step above it upgrades the tonearm, platter or plinth on the same belt-drive design.
Start with the Replay if you want Rega engineering with the simplest possible setup. When you are ready for a glass platter and a higher-spec arm, the rest of the Rega turntable range steps up from here.

FAQ
FAQ
Does the Rega Replay have a built-in phono preamp?
Does the Rega Replay have a built-in phono preamp?
No. The Replay has no built-in phono stage. To play it, you connect it to an amplifier or receiver that has a moving magnet (MM) phono input, or you add a separate MM phono stage between the turntable and your amp. The factory-fitted Carbon is a moving magnet cartridge, which is why an MM phono input is the one to use.
How is the Rega Replay different from the Rega Planar 1?
How is the Rega Replay different from the Rega Planar 1?
They share the core: both use the RB110 tonearm, a factory-fitted Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge, a 24V low-noise motor and the EBLT drive belt. The difference is the plinth. The Planar 1 uses a full-size plinth and weighs 4.2 kg, while the Replay uses a low-mass skeletal plinth drawn from Rega's flagship decks and weighs 2.2 kg. The Planar 1 is the step up in plinth mass and build.
Do I need to set the tracking force and anti-skate on the Replay?
Do I need to set the tracking force and anti-skate on the Replay?
No. The 111 g balance weight pushes onto the back of the arm until it stops, and the tracking force is set. The bias (anti-skate) is factory pre-set and is not adjustable. There is no arm to balance and nothing to dial in, which is why Rega says the Replay can be set up and playing in under a minute.
Can I replace or upgrade the cartridge on the Rega Replay?
Can I replace or upgrade the cartridge on the Rega Replay?
The Rega Carbon moving magnet cartridge is fitted and aligned at the factory, and its stylus is replaceable when it wears. Rega also offers a Carbon Pro upgrade stylus that fits the same cartridge body, so you can raise performance without changing the cartridge itself.
What do I need to start playing records on the Replay?
What do I need to start playing records on the Replay?
An amplifier or receiver with an MM phono input (or a separate MM phono stage), plus speakers. The Carbon cartridge is factory fitted, the phono RCA cable is fixed to the deck, it runs from an external Rega PS2 power supply and the dustcover is included, so there is no cartridge to mount or tonearm cable to buy. It plays both 33 1/3 and 45 RPM records; you switch speeds by moving the belt on the pulley by hand.
