Cabinet Construction and Engineering

Opera used a 4-centimeter-thick front panel and chose the cabinet's proportions carefully to reduce internal reflections. The cabinet, entirely crafted from 4cm-thick MDF, is engineered to eliminate unwanted resonances with the help of compression chambers and internal reinforcements, and its front, top and rear panels are wrapped in eco-leather.

Driver Technology

The 6-inch woofer represents close collaboration between Opera and Scan-Speak of Denmark. The black anodized aluminum cone delivers the rigidity needed for controlled bass reproduction while maintaining the low mass required for quick transient response. The 26mm soft dome tweeter is based on a standard Scan-Speak model with a significantly reinforced motor structure for better frequency handling, especially in the midrange.

Crossover Design

The Mezza V2 uses a relatively simple two-way crossover at 2,200Hz, designed in-house with top-quality components. Opera developed it with careful attention to the acoustic response of each filter section and the phase alignment of each driver, optimized on and off axis.

Rear-Firing Bass Reflex Port

A single rear-firing bass reflex port loads the 6-inch woofer, extending low-frequency output down to 55Hz from an enclosure of roughly eight liters. The rear panel also carries a single pair of quality binding posts and the Opera badge confirming the speaker's 6-ohm nominal load and Italian assembly.
