The Diptyque DP160 MKII-EVO is built for listeners who want to stop hearing speakers and start feeling performances. This full-range isodynamic panel blends Diptyque’s most advanced driver geometry with a mechanically inert frame and a sweeping ribbon tweeter, bringing you closer to the texture, scale, and nuance of live music. Every element of the DP160 MKII is tuned for coherence and realism, not just detail.
This is where engineering and artistry meet with nothing in the way of the sound.
The EVO revision adds Diptyque’s Acoustic Bass Regulators (ABR), developed in research with ONERA, France’s national aerospace research laboratory. A series of calibrated perforations on the back of each panel act as progressive dampers, controlling the mylar membrane right where it moves most: at its resonance frequency and during high-volume passages. The result is tighter, more linear bass, noticeably less distortion when you push the level, and a more natural, neutral low end. Everything else that defines the DP160 MKII carries over unchanged.

The DP160 MKII inherits the mechanical structure of Diptyque’s Reference Series and applies it to a format that fits into real-world rooms. The dual bass-mid panels are engineered using their proprietary PPBM system, tensioned and tuned for phase accuracy and extended low-end response. There is no unnecessary coloration or artificial enhancement. This speaker delivers the physicality of a live performance with a balance that feels immediate and pure.
This speaker disappears, but the music does not. The DP160 MKII casts a wide, three-dimensional image that creates presence without spotlighting. From delicate acoustic tracks to densely layered orchestral work, it renders every element with control and spaciousness. The sound is natural, full, and emotionally expressive.
For more than thirty years of passionate engagement with sound reproduction, Diptyque has explored and experienced the full spectrum of speaker technologies available on the market: electrodynamics, high efficiency, electrostatic, various forms of ribbon speakers, and those with rigid flat diaphragms among others. Each technology presents its own set of unmistakable benefits, yet Diptyque has come to the conclusion that isodynamic (also known as magnetostatic) loudspeakers encapsulate the zenith of natural music reproduction. This belief is rooted in the comprehensive advantages these speakers offer, particularly in their ability to present music with unparalleled authenticity, closely mirroring the original performance.

Isodynamic technology, revered among audiophiles and initially developed in the United States during the 1970s, has undergone significant enhancements through dedicated research and experimentation. Aiming to transcend its traditional limitations, especially in bass reproduction, Diptyque has introduced innovations to refine this technology.

Diptyque speakers are available in over 160 fine-texture RAL colors from the Axalta Alesta® AP collection. These custom finishes offer a matte, architectural look with excellent scratch resistance and visual uniformity. The finish helps minimize surface imperfections while giving the speaker a tailored, design-forward aesthetic.
If you would like to order your Diptyque speaker in a custom color, contact us directly. We’ll walk you through the available RAL options, explain finish characteristics, and help you match your speakers to your space.
Note: Custom finishes may add lead time and incur an additional charge depending on the selection.
