The Opera Mezza V2 delivers refined two-way sound from a compact bookshelf cabinet, reaching down to 55Hz with 92dB sensitivity. Built around a 6-inch Scan-Speak aluminum-cone woofer and 1-inch coated soft dome tweeter, the Mezza V2 features Mundorf M-Cap crossover capacitors and thick MDF construction wrapped in modern eco-leather finishes.

Opera has crafted speakers in Treviso, Italy since 1989, and the Classica V2 line represents a complete reimagining of their entry-level designs. The Mezza V2 exemplifies Opera's philosophy of building speakers like fine Italian furniture, where every cabinet is carefully assembled and finished by hand. We carry Opera because they deliver genuine craftsmanship and European engineering at prices that make high-end audio accessible.

Key Features of the Opera Mezza V2

  • 6" Scan-Speak Aluminum Cone Woofer: High-excursion driver developed in collaboration with Danish specialists delivers controlled bass and exceptional midrange clarity with ferrite magnet motor structure.
  • 1" Coated Soft Dome Tweeter: Extended high-frequency response to 28kHz with smooth, detailed treble presentation and a low resonant frequency for a natural handoff from midrange to treble.
  • Mundorf M-Cap Crossover Capacitors: Premium German capacitors in the 2,800Hz crossover network ensure pure signal transmission with minimal coloration.
  • 4cm Thick MDF Cabinet: Massive panel thickness eliminates resonances and provides the rigid foundation required for accurate driver performance.
  • Rear Bass Reflex Port: Rear-firing port design reduces turbulence noise for clean, extended low-frequency output from a compact enclosure.
  • Italian Eco-Leather Finish: Modern wrap covering front, top, and rear panels provides durability and distinctive aesthetics in Rosewood or Concrete Gray.
  • 92dB Sensitivity: Easy to drive with modest amplification while capable of handling 100W continuous power for dynamic peaks.
  • Low 2,800Hz Crossover Point: Keeps the tweeter out of the critical upper midrange, allowing the woofer to handle vocals and instruments without interruption.

Cabinet Construction and Engineering

The Mezza V2's tall, vertical cabinet was engineered to minimize internal reflections and eliminate side-wall vibrations. The 4cm thick MDF construction provides exceptional mass and rigidity, while internal reinforcements placed at acoustically critical junctions control panel resonance. Opera uses precision accelerometer and laser testing during development to optimize reinforcement placement. The cabinet shape itself, with its curved eco-leather-wrapped edges, is carefully studied to reduce internal coloration and external diffraction effects.

Driver Technology

The 6-inch woofer represents close collaboration between Opera and Scan-Speak of Denmark. The black anodized aluminum cone delivers the rigidity needed for controlled bass reproduction while maintaining the low mass required for quick transient response. The ferrite magnet motor structure provides consistent drive force across the full frequency range. The 1-inch coated soft dome tweeter uses a reinforced moving assembly that prevents tonal shifts even at high volumes, maintaining consistent high-frequency character regardless of playback level.

Crossover Design

The Mezza V2 employs a simple, high-quality two-way crossover set at 2,800Hz. This relatively low crossover point, combined with the tweeter's low resonant frequency, allows the woofer to reproduce upper midrange vocals and instrumental harmonics without handing off to the tweeter in the most sensitive listening range. Mundorf M-Cap capacitors from Germany ensure minimal signal degradation, while the overall network topology prioritizes phase coherence and time-alignment for precise stereo imaging.

Rear-Firing Bass Reflex Port

A single rear-firing bass reflex port loads the 6-inch woofer, extending low-frequency output down to 55Hz from an enclosure of roughly eight liters. Positioning the port on the rear panel keeps the front baffle clean and helps reduce audible turbulence at the port mouth. The rear panel also carries a single pair of quality binding posts and the Opera badge confirming the speaker's 6-ohm nominal load and Italian assembly.

Italian Craftsmanship from Opera Loudspeakers

Opera Loudspeakers has crafted speakers in Treviso, Italy since 1989. The Classica V2 line represents the latest evolution of their entry-level designs, completely reimagined with modern finishes and refined driver technology developed in collaboration with Scan-Speak of Denmark. Every cabinet is carefully assembled and finished by hand, reflecting Opera's commitment to quality at every price point. The eco-leather wrap is applied with precision to create furniture-grade aesthetics, offered in a warm Rosewood with real wood side panels or a contemporary Concrete Gray.

More in the Opera Classica Series

The Mezza V2 is the compact standmount in Opera's Classica line, the smallest of the family and an ideal fit for smaller rooms or nearfield listening. Looking for more output or a floorstanding design?

  • Opera Prima V2: The larger standmount in the line, with a 7-inch woofer and more bass weight for medium rooms.
  • Opera Grand Mezza V2: The slim floorstanding step up, with dual woofers and deeper bass.
  • Opera Quinta V2: The larger Classica floorstander for full-range output in bigger spaces.
  • Opera SP1 Speaker Stand: The matching stand, built to set the Mezza V2 at the correct listening height.
