The Mini Maggie System is essentially a 3.7i in miniature, built for near-field listening at a desk. The two satellite speakers offer clear midrange and treble performance, while the bass panel fits under your desk, delivering full-bodied bass. A short "modesty panel" reduces dipole cancellation and increases deep bass output.
Proper positioning is crucial to unlock the full potential of the Mini Maggie System. Ensuring sufficient space around the speakers allows rear radiation to contribute to a spacious soundstage, while the bass panel performs best with open space behind it to naturally enhance low-end response.

Magnepan recommends a high-current amplifier that can safely drive a 4-ohm speaker.
Magnepan's product page sets the satellites up with the tweeters on the outside, tilted slightly back on rubber bumpers, with the supplied 1-ohm resistors fitted to balance the treble at close range. Its manual normally favors the tweeters on the inside, so try both and keep the one that images best from your chair.

The carton also holds bases and screws, two 1-ohm tweeter resistors, two 2-ohm 25-watt resistors for the bass panel, logos and Allen wrenches.

Connect your amplifier's outputs to the DWM's amplifier input, then the Mini Maggies to the DWM's "high" output, observing polarity both times; the DWM has no separate left and right terminals. Magnepan suggests also trying the Minis with their polarity reversed relative to the DWM, since the right phasing depends on where the bass panel sits.

Place the Minis as far from you as the desk allows, but not directly against a wall, and the DWM under the desk in the foot well, far forward but not against the front panel. Magnepan's manual favors the tweeters on the inside with the panels angled, and suggests trying them on the outside too. For desk listening, swap the tweeter jumpers for the supplied 1-ohm resistors to tame the treble. Magnepan finds imaging best when you lean back in your chair, a few feet further back than your working position.
