Magnepan systems are complete Magnepan speaker sets sold as one product, and this page holds the standard Mini Maggie System; the Mini Maggie System X is in the X-Series. The Mini Maggie is a desktop planar magnetic setup built from two satellite panels and a bass panel that sits under the desk, built for near-field listening at arm's length.
The Mini Maggie System uses a miniaturized version of the midrange and tweeter from Magnepan's 3.7i, in a full-range dipole layout. The two satellites handle midrange and treble at the desk, and the bass panel goes underneath with a short modesty panel that helps bass response and prevents cancellation. Setup calls for the tweeters facing outward and tilted slightly back on rubber bumpers, with 1-ohm resistors to balance output at close range, and the bass panel works best with open space behind it. It is a 4-ohm load and wants a high-current amplifier. For full-size Magnepans, see the Standard Series.
