The AVM Ovation SA 8.3 Lite is a Class A/B MOSFET stereo power amplifier rated in AVM's technical data at 350 W per channel into 4 ohms, 225 W into 8 ohms and 500 W into 2 ohms. It uses 24 MOSFET transistors per channel, a transistor-based input stage and a completely DC-coupled signal path, fed by a 1000 VA toroidal transformer.
AVM also calls it the SA 8.3 Master Edition Lite. It sits in AVM's Ovation S group alongside the tube-input SA 8.3 S, and it is delivered in a sturdy AVM flight case.
Key Features of the AVM Ovation SA 8.3 Lite
- 350 W Per Channel Into 4 Ohms: 225 W into 8 ohms and 500 W into 2 ohms, in Class A/B with MOSFET technology.
- 24 MOSFETs Per Channel: Maximum currents of up to 60 amperes.
- 1000 VA Toroidal Transformer: With two separate power supplies for the output stages and the processor unit.
- 136,000 µF Per Channel: Large energy storage for pulse peaks.
- Transistor Input Stage, DC-Coupled Path: A transistor-based input stage and a completely DC-coupled signal path.
- XLR and RCA Inputs: Both input types, with 45 kohm and 22 kohm input impedance.
- Display and Remote: A dimmable, high-contrast display and an included remote control.
What Drives the SA 8.3 Lite?
The SA 8.3 Lite is a Class A/B amplifier with MOSFET technology. AVM's technical data gives a maximum output of 225 W per channel into 8 ohms, 350 W into 4 ohms and 500 W into 2 ohms, and 24 MOSFET transistors per channel deliver maximum currents of up to 60 amperes.
A 1000 VA toroidal transformer and two separate power supplies feed the output stages and the processor unit, with 136,000 µF of capacitance per channel. AVM rates distortion below 0.01% at 25 W into 4 ohms, the signal-to-noise ratio at 97 dB(A), the frequency response from below 1 Hz to above 100 kHz and the damping factor well above 200.

Transistor Input Stage and Connections
Where the SA 8.3 S uses a tube input stage, the SA 8.3 Lite uses a transistor-based input stage, and its whole signal path is DC-coupled. It has XLR and RCA inputs, with input impedances of 45 kohm and 22 kohm and an input sensitivity of 1.35 V at the 8-ohm rating.
The dimmable, high-contrast display and the included remote control handle operation. AVM lists the supply as 230 V / 50 Hz or 120 V / 60 Hz, with a maximum consumption of 1000 W.

Silver, Black or Cellini Chrome
The aluminum housing comes in silver or black, or with AVM's chrome-plated Cellini front. It measures 430 x 250 x 420 mm, weighs 22 kg and is delivered in a sturdy AVM flight case.

Who Is AVM?
