The AVM Ovation SA 6.3 is a Class A/AB MOS-FET stereo power amplifier rated at 2 x 350 W into 4 ohms and 2 x 200 W into 8 ohms. A 1000 VA toroidal transformer and 20 MOS-FET transistors per channel drive the speakers, and outputs for two separately switchable speaker pairs are built in.
The SA 6.3 is a stereo power amplifier in AVM's Ovation line, handcrafted at the AVM factory in Malsch, Germany. Its input stages are fully balanced and DC-coupled, with XLR and RCA inputs.
Key Features of the AVM Ovation SA 6.3
- 2 x 350 W Into 4 Ohms: Class A/AB MOS-FET high current technology, 2 x 200 W into 8 ohms.
- 20 MOS-FETs Per Channel: A maximum current of 180 amps.
- 1000 VA Toroidal Transformer: Plus three separate power supplies for the power amplifiers, the processor and the input circuit.
- Balanced, DC-Coupled Inputs: Fully balanced input stages, DC-coupled, with XLR and RCA inputs.
- Two Speaker Pairs: Bi-wire capable speaker terminals and two separately switchable speaker pairs.
- Graphic Display and AIR Trigger: A large, blue-lit graphic display and AVM's AIR trigger (AVM Intelligent Remote).
- Low Standby Draw: Below 0.5 W in standby.
What Drives the SA 6.3?
The SA 6.3 uses Class A/AB MOS-FET high current technology. In AVM's technical data it delivers 2 x 350 W into 4 ohms and 2 x 200 W into 8 ohms, and AVM states that it drives even the most demanding speakers with ease. Twenty MOS-FET transistors per channel deliver a maximum current of 180 amps.
A 1000 VA toroidal transformer feeds the amplifier, and three separate power supplies serve the power amplifiers, the processor and the input circuit. AVM rates the signal-to-noise ratio at 101 dB(A), distortion below 0.01% at 25 W into 4 ohms, a frequency response from below 5 Hz to above 100 kHz and a damping factor above 500.

Inputs, Speaker Outputs and Control
The fully balanced, DC-coupled input stages take XLR and RCA high-level inputs, with input impedances of 14 kohm and 6.8 kohm. The speaker terminals are bi-wire capable, and the SA 6.3 can drive two separately switchable speaker pairs.
A large, blue-lit graphic display and menu functions, including customizable input sensitivity and a peak power display, cover setup. AVM's AIR trigger (AVM Intelligent Remote) keeps operation simple, and standby consumption is below 0.5 W.

Silver, Black or Cellini
The sturdy aluminum case comes in silver or black, or as the Cellini version with a chrome front. Like all models in the Ovation series, the SA 6.3 is handcrafted at the AVM factory in Malsch, with repeated quality checks and a multi-day burn-in period, and AVM ships every Ovation model in a robust AVM flight case.
Who Is AVM?
