R810 Sound Quality and Amplification

The R810's five-channel Class AB amplifier uses discrete components and drives each speaker independently. Two 28mm silk dome tweeters handle high frequencies with precision, two 100mm NS+ bass-mid woofers cover the midrange and upper bass, and a 200mm long-throw subwoofer extends response down to 30Hz. Each driver gets its own amplifier channel, so the system never runs short on dynamic passages.

The cabinet is internally divided into optimized compartments. Twin bass reflex enclosures house the NS+ drivers and tweeters, while the subwoofer sits beneath in an infinite baffle design that controls cone excursion for tight, extended low end. Signal processing runs through a Burr-Brown 32-bit 192kHz DAC, with adjustable bass/treble/subwoofer controls (plus or minus 6dB each). Ruark's enhanced RotoDial sits at the center of the R810's front panel, providing weighted, tactile control over volume, source selection, and system menus. The 4-inch high-contrast color TFT display shows album artwork, station logos, and settings in portrait orientation with auto dimming for nighttime use. The rechargeable Bluetooth LE remote mirrors the RotoDial's control logic without requiring line-of-sight, and twenty global presets store your most-used stations and playlists.

R810 Streaming and Connectivity

Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and Qobuz Connect pull streams directly from each service at full quality rather than relaying compressed audio from your phone. HDMI ARC/eARC brings TV audio into the system, turning the R810 into a serious soundbar alternative. Optical input (24-bit 96kHz PCM) covers additional digital sources, and RCA line-in handles the rest.

R810 Design and Cabinet Construction

The R810 is Ruark's modern interpretation of the radiogram, designed as furniture first and audio component second. The cabinet is built from sustainable woods expertly spliced to achieve the grain of slow-growing hardwoods. Every surface is hand-finished. A polished chrome frame stand with matching chrome bar legs elevates the unit to viewing height and gives it a mid-century silhouette.

Two finishes: Fused Walnut veneer with matching Walnut grille, or Soft Grey Lacquer with Walnut grille. At H660 x W1000 x D435mm on the stand and 27kg, the R810 has genuine physical presence. It replaces a rack of separates with a single object worth looking at.
