This is the triple layer glass platter from the Rega Planar 8. Rega developed it with a British glass engineering company: three laminated pieces made from two different Pilkington glasses, 18 mm thick. Rega keeps as much of the mass as possible at the outer rim for flywheel effect and keeps the inside light without giving up stiffness, because a heavier platter creates more problems for the main bearing.

Compatibility

Made for the Rega Planar 8. Choose smoked glass for a Matt Polaris Grey Planar 8, or clear glass, which Rega supplies with the matt white Planar 8.
