The Rega Kyte is a radical departure from traditional loudspeaker design, meticulously engineered to deliver the true "voice" of Rega components in a compact, affordable package. Eschewing the standard wood veneer box, the Kyte features a unique, injection-moulded phenolic resin cabinet, a material chosen for its extreme stiffness and acoustic neutrality. Inside, this advanced shell is reinforced with ceramic plates and a complex cross-brace structure, creating an inert platform that allows the handmade drivers to perform without coloration. The result is a speaker that disappears into the room, leaving behind a soundstage that is fast, punchy, and startlingly natural.
Key Features:
- Phenolic Resin Cabinet: A custom-designed enclosure injection-molded from stiff thermoset phenolic resin.
- Ceramic Plate Bracing: Internally reinforced with ceramic plates and cross-bracing to create an incredibly rigid structure for precise bass definition.
- Handmade MX-125 Driver: Features Rega's own 5-inch bass-mid unit with a four-layer voice coil, designed and assembled in-house for perfect integration.
- ZRR High Frequency Unit: Rega's own designed ZRR high frequency unit.
- Versatile Positioning: Unique rear foot design allows for easy placement on shelves or flat surfaces, with an optional adaptor available for stand mounting.
- Made in the UK: Designed, engineered, and manufactured in England, ensuring the highest standards of build quality and sonic consistency.
Breaking the Mold
Most loudspeakers look the same because they are built the same way. The Kyte breaks this convention by utilizing a thermoset phenolic resin cabinet. Inside, ceramic plates and carefully engineered cross bracing make the cabinet extremely stiff, which Rega says prevents unwanted resonances from interfering with the drive units. This means you hear the snap of the snare drum and the texture of the bass guitar, not the vibration of the box.
The Rega Voice
At the heart of the Kyte is the handmade MX-125 bass-mid driver. Rega makes its own high frequency unit and bass/midrange driver, and even winds its crossover components in house.
Placement
The Kyte is a rear-ported bass reflex design, and Rega supplies an optional foot to allow for various positioning. For those who prefer dedicated stands, a custom metal adaptor (sold separately) allows the Kyte to be mounted on standard loudspeaker stands, ensuring they perform at their peak in any environment.

Which amplifier suits the Rega Kyte?
Which amplifier suits the Rega Kyte?
Rega pairs it with the io, which gives 30 watts per channel into 8 ohms. The Kyte is a 6-ohm, 89dB design; Rega gives 80 watts per channel as a power handling guide, noting that it depends on the quality of the amplifier.
Can the Kytes go on speaker stands?
Can the Kytes go on speaker stands?
Yes, with the Kyte Stand Adaptor, sold separately: a 2mm powder-coated steel base with rubber damping feet that fits standard stands. For a shelf or other flat surface, use the two rear feet supplied, fitted with the four included screws and a PZ2 screwdriver. Rega warns never to lay the speaker face down while fitting them.
Where should the Kytes be placed?
Where should the Kytes be placed?
Rega says they can go on stands, a sturdy shelf or a flat surface, and that imaging and bass can be tuned by adjusting the distance from the rear and side walls; generally, closer to a structural wall gives more bass. The port is on the back, so leave room behind it. Use the same length of cable to each speaker.
Rega Kyte or Aya?
Rega Kyte or Aya?
The Aya is the larger step up, 871mm (34.3in) tall on its integrated stand. It uses the Kyte's ZRR tweeter and MX-125 bass-mid unit, adds a 7-inch bass driver in a glass reinforced cement cabinet, and raises power handling to 110 watts against the Kyte's 80.
How is the Kyte built?
