In-ceiling speakers usually come with trade-offs. The Perlisten R3ic does not. Built to the same obsessive standards as their freestanding R-Series loudspeakers, the R3ic brings full-scale, high-fidelity performance to spaces where clean design and serious sound have to coexist.
If you thought hiding your speakers meant giving up soundstage, detail, or dynamics, think again. The R3ic was designed from the ground up to disappear visually while staying completely honest to the music and movies you love.
When “good enough” is not even close to good enough, this is the in-ceiling speaker you want overhead.

High-End Performance, No Apologies
The R3ic was not designed to blend in sonically. It was designed to outperform expectations. Centered around a custom-engineered DPC waveguide array, the 28mm silk dome tweeter and midrange units work together to control dispersion and focus the sound where it matters, at your ears, not scattered across the ceiling.
Bass performance is handled by a 165mm woofer with an HPF paper pulp cone and an aluminum frame. This combination delivers fast, tight low-frequency energy without muddying the critical midrange, making dialogue cleaner, impacts sharper, and music more dimensional.
Wherever you sit, the R3ic works hard to make sure you do not miss a detail. It is smart enough to behave invisibly but proud enough to sound unforgettable.
Designed for Serious Systems
The R3ic brings full THX Dominus surround certification into the ceiling. It is a speaker you can trust for the heavy lifting of left, center, and right channels, not just for occasional surround or height effects. And thanks to a precision-engineered 4mm aluminum back box, it delivers consistent sound with limited sound transmission into other rooms.
Whether you are assembling a reference-grade Atmos theater or quietly flexing your two-channel chops without cluttering the room, the R3ic is your kind of solution. No compromises, no apologies, just real results.

Why does the Perlisten R3ic have a back box?
Why does the Perlisten R3ic have a back box?
Two reasons. It limits how much sound travels into the space above the ceiling, and it keeps the speaker's response predictable regardless of what is inside the ceiling cavity. The R3ic's back box is solid 4mm aluminum. If the joists are too shallow for it, the enclosure comes off with 12 screws, which takes the mounting depth down to 5-9/16 inches (141.3mm), giving up that isolation.
What joist size does the R3ic need?
What joist size does the R3ic need?
Perlisten's drawing specifies 2x8 joists as the minimum with the back box fitted, or 2x6 with the enclosure removed. The speaker is 194.8mm (7.7 inches) deep overall with its enclosure. The recommended cutout is 12 inches (305mm), and the mounting clamps take ceilings from 1/2 inch to 1-5/8 inches thick.
Can the R3ic be used for left, center and right channels?
Can the R3ic be used for left, center and right channels?
Perlisten designed it to. The R3ic can serve as a left, center, right, surround, height or wide channel, and Perlisten describes it as usable for in-ceiling LCR as well as surrounds. It is THX Dominus certified for surrounds and THX Ultra certified. Its listening window, plus or minus 55 degrees horizontally and 30 degrees vertically from a 30 degree reference axis, spreads coverage across more seats.
Is the R3ic a good height speaker for an R-Series system?
Is the R3ic a good height speaker for an R-Series system?
It is the one Perlisten built for it: Perlisten calls the R3ic the in-ceiling match for any R-Series home theater. It uses 28mm silk dome tweeter and midrange drivers in a waveguide array with a 165mm HPF woofer, the same driver family as the freestanding and in-wall R-Series, so overhead effects keep the character of the front speakers.
