The Vienna Acoustics Waltz Grand is a sealed on-wall speaker built around dual 6-inch X3P Spider-Cone drivers and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter, designed as the surround and effects channel partner for the Concert Grand series. At under four inches deep, it mounts flush to any wall or ceiling and comes with an adjustable bracket that allows eight different mounting positions for precise aiming. Sold individually, so you order the quantity your system needs.
Key Features of the Vienna Acoustics Waltz Grand
- Dual 6" X3P Spider-Cone Drivers: Transparent cone mid-bass drivers delivering controlled output from 70 Hz to the crossover point, matching the tonal character of the Concert Grand series
- 1" VA Silk Dome Tweeter: The same hand-coated silk dome tweeter used across the Concert Grand lineup for consistent voicing between front and surround channels
- Sealed (Acoustic Suspension) Cabinet: Closed-box design eliminates port noise and provides tight, predictable bass response regardless of wall proximity
- Adjustable Mounting Bracket: Eight possible mounting positions for wall or ceiling installation, allowing precise sound field aiming toward the listening position
- 2-Way Bessel Crossover: 6 dB and 12 dB Bessel topology with MKP capacitors (1% tolerance), air-core coils (0.7% tolerance), and inductance-free metal film resistors
- 91 dB Sensitivity at 4 Ohms: Easy to drive with 25 to 180 watts, making it compatible with a wide range of AV receivers and amplifiers
- Slim Profile: Only 3.7 inches deep (95 mm), so it sits close to the wall without protruding into the room
- Handcrafted Austrian Cabinets: Available in Cherry, Piano Black, and Piano White
Waltz Grand in a Home Theater System
The Waltz Grand is specifically voiced to match the Concert Grand series. In a typical surround configuration, you would pair it with Beethoven Baby Grand Reference or Concert Grand Reference floorstanders up front, a Maestro Grand Reference center channel, and Waltz Grands on the side and rear walls. Because Vienna Acoustics uses the same X3P driver material and silk dome tweeter across the Concert Grand range, the tonal handoff between channels is smooth and consistent. Your AV processor handles the bass management, and the sealed Waltz Grand cabinet means you don't need to worry about port placement or wall-boundary reinforcement affecting the sound.
Why Sealed Matters for On-Wall Speakers
Most on-wall speakers use ported (bass reflex) designs that can produce unpredictable bass response when mounted close to a wall, because the boundary reinforcement interacts with the port tuning. The Waltz Grand uses an acoustic suspension (sealed) design, which rolls off bass more gradually and predictably. Wall reinforcement actually helps extend the low-frequency response rather than causing peaks and dips. The result is clean, controlled bass down to 70 Hz from a speaker that's less than four inches deep. Below 70 Hz, your subwoofer takes over.
Waltz Grand vs. The Kiss: Choosing a Vienna Acoustics Surround Speaker
Vienna Acoustics offers two speakers suitable for surround duty. The Waltz Grand is an on-wall design from the Concert Grand series, using X3P Spider-Cone drivers in a sealed cabinet. The Kiss is a Klimt series bookshelf/stand-mount speaker with the patented Flat-Spider-Cone coincident driver (tweeter mounted at the center of the midrange). If your front speakers are Concert Grand series (Baby Grand Reference, Concert Grand Reference), the Waltz Grand is the correct surround match. If your front speakers are Klimt series (The Music, Poetry), The Kiss is the correct match.
Explore the Vienna Acoustics Concert Grand Series
The Waltz Grand completes the Concert Grand surround system. The Haydn SE Signature is a compact bookshelf option with Spider-Cone technology. The Baby Grand Reference and Concert Grand Reference are the series' floorstanders. And the Maestro Grand Reference is the dedicated center channel, matching the Concert Grand voicing for dialogue clarity.
