At just under seven inches wide, the Vienna Acoustics Haydn SE Signature is the smallest speaker in the Concert Grand series, and it plays like it has no idea. Built around the same patented Spider-Cone X3P woofer and hand-coated silk dome tweeter found in Vienna's larger floorstanders, this Austrian-made bookshelf speaker delivers a scale and midrange richness that routinely catches listeners off guard. It shares its tweeter with the Beethoven Concert Grand Reference, which tells you where Vienna aimed when voicing it.

Key Features of the Vienna Acoustics Haydn SE Signature

  • Patented 6" Spider-Cone X3P mid-woofer: Triple-polymer composite cone with reinforcing ribs for increased output, extension, and control across a wide bandwidth
  • 1.1" hand-coated silk dome tweeter: Shared with the Beethoven Concert Grand Reference, extending well into the midrange for natural, fatigue-free treble
  • Dedicated linear crossover with copper circuit path layout: MKP capacitors (1% tolerance), air-core coils (0.7% tolerance), and inductance-free metal film resistors arranged to minimize parasitic interactions
  • Rear-vented bass reflex with QB3 alignment: Impulse-optimized tuning for controlled, tuneful bass from a compact cabinet
  • Furniture-grade Austrian construction: Hand-finished in true piano lacquer or natural wood veneer, built to the same standard as Vienna's flagship designs
  • Six finish options: Piano Black, Piano White, Cherry, Premium Rosewood, and new Satin Black and Satin White
  • Magnetic grille included: Clean aesthetic with or without the grille attached

The Spider-Cone X3P: Vienna's Signature Driver

The heart of the Haydn SE Signature is its 6-inch Spider-Cone X3P mid-woofer. The cone is made from a proprietary blend of three polymers (the "X3P" designation), reinforced with Vienna's patented spiderweb rib pattern that increases structural rigidity without adding mass. The result is a driver that handles a broader bandwidth than a typical 6-inch cone, with low distortion and high inner detail. It moves enough air to produce convincing bass down to 40 Hz in most rooms, while maintaining the midrange clarity that defines the Vienna Acoustics house sound. The cone is visually distinctive too: translucent, with the rib structure clearly visible through the material.

A Tweeter Borrowed from Above

Vienna chose its 1.1-inch hand-coated silk dome tweeter for the Haydn SE Signature, the same unit fitted to the Beethoven Concert Grand Reference. This is not a parts-bin compromise. The tweeter is individually hand-coated in Vienna's factory and voiced to extend well down into the upper midrange, creating a handoff between drivers that sounds coherent and tonally unified. Vocals, acoustic guitar, and piano benefit most: instruments appear with texture and body rather than the thin, etched quality that plagues many bookshelf speakers in this range. The silk dome avoids the metallic edge of aluminum or beryllium alternatives, offering natural air without harshness even during extended listening sessions.

Crossover: Where the Details Live

The crossover in the Haydn SE Signature uses a 6 dB/12 dB Bessel topology with audiophile-grade components: MKP capacitors at 1% tolerance, air-core coils at 0.7% tolerance, and inductance-free 1% metal film resistors. What separates it from a typical two-way crossover is the copper circuit path layout. Vienna routes signal paths with deliberate attention to sympathetic and parasitic interactions between components, the kind of electrical noise that shows up as smearing or loss of spatial detail in listening. The layout-first approach contributes to the speaker's ability to resolve fine detail without sounding analytical or clinical.

Built in Vienna, Finished Like Furniture

Every Haydn SE Signature is built to furniture-grade standards in Austria, using the same veneer-wrapping technique and piano lacquer process applied to Vienna's most expensive designs. The cabinet is engineered to minimize internal standing waves and control resonance without deadening musical energy. Six finishes are available: Piano Black and Piano White in high-gloss lacquer, Cherry and Premium Rosewood in natural wood veneer, and two newer options (Satin Black and Satin White) at a lower price point for those who prefer a matte finish. The narrow front baffle reduces diffraction for precise imaging, and the compact 6.85-inch width makes placement flexible on stands, shelves, or in tight spaces.

Explore the Vienna Acoustics Range

The Haydn SE Signature is Vienna Acoustics' entry into the Concert Grand series. For a full-range floorstanding experience with the same Austrian engineering philosophy, the Bach Ultimate Edition adds deeper bass extension and a larger X3P driver in a compact floorstander. The Mozart Signature SE steps up to a three-way design with a dedicated midrange driver. For home theater, the Maestro Grand Reference center channel is voiced to match any Vienna floorstander or bookshelf, and the Waltz Grand wall-mount surround completes a full system.
