The Rega Kyte is a radical departure from traditional loudspeaker design, meticulously engineered to deliver the true "voice" of Rega components in a compact, affordable package. Eschewing the standard wood veneer box, the Kyte features a unique, injection-moulded phenolic resin cabinet—a material chosen for its extreme stiffness and acoustic neutrality. Inside, this advanced shell is reinforced with ceramic plates and a complex cross-brace structure, creating an inert platform that allows the handmade drivers to perform without coloration. The result is a speaker that disappears into the room, leaving behind a soundstage that is fast, punchy, and startlingly natural.
Key Features:
- Phenolic Resin Cabinet: A custom-designed, injection-moulded enclosure that offers superior stiffness and damping compared to traditional MDF, eliminating boxy resonances.
- Ceramic Plate Bracing: Internally reinforced with ceramic plates and cross-bracing to create an incredibly rigid structure for precise bass definition.
- Handmade MX-125 Driver: Features Rega's own 5-inch bass-mid unit with a four-layer voice coil, designed and assembled in-house for perfect integration.
- ZRR High Frequency Unit: Utilizes Rega's Zero Rear Reflection (ZRR) tweeter technology to eliminate unwanted rear energy, ensuring crystal-clear highs.
- Versatile Positioning: Unique rear foot design allows for easy placement on shelves or flat surfaces, with an optional adaptor available for stand mounting.
- Made in the UK: Designed, engineered, and manufactured in England, ensuring the highest standards of build quality and sonic consistency.
Breaking the Mold
Most loudspeakers look the same because they are built the same way. The Kyte breaks this convention by utilizing a thermoset phenolic resin cabinet. This high-tech material allows for a distinct, curved shape that naturally discourages internal standing waves. While traditional wooden cabinets can store energy and "smear" the sound, the Kyte's resin shell, fortified with internal ceramic plates, is acoustically dead. This means you hear the snap of the snare drum and the texture of the bass guitar, not the vibration of the box.
The Rega Voice
At the heart of the Kyte is the handmade MX-125 bass-mid driver. Rega is one of the few hi-fi manufacturers that builds its own drive units, allowing for total control over the sound. The MX-125 is perfectly matched to the cabinet volume and the ZRR (Zero Rear Reflection) tweeter. This synergy creates a "point source" effect where frequencies blend seamlessly, offering a wide sweet spot and vocals that sound incredibly lifelike and present in the room.
Designed for Real Homes
The Kyte is designed to fit your life, not dominate it. Its compact dimensions and rear-ported bass reflex design allow it to deliver surprising bass weight from a small footprint. Each speaker comes with a screw-on rear foot that tilts the cabinet for optimal projection when placed on a sideboard or bookshelf. For those who prefer dedicated stands, a custom metal adaptor (sold separately) allows the Kyte to be mounted on standard loudspeaker stands, ensuring they perform at their peak in any environment.
