At this level, every detail matters: your room, your system, what you’re driving it with, what you’re listening to. I handle these orders personally because an investment like this deserves more than an Add to Cart button. We’ll work through system synergy, I’ll make sure the setup is right, and we’ll coordinate delivery so it arrives exactly how it should. A few of our brands require this direct approach, but at this price point, it’s how I’d do it anyway. Use the button above, or call/text me directly at 410-239-2020.

The Kora PR140 preamplifier delivers a smooth, precise musicality with natural dynamics and lifelike detail retrieval. Designed to respect the integrity of every recording, it combines refined control with exceptional transparency. Beyond standard functions like volume and balance, the PR140 also allows you to fine-tune and balance the level of each of its five inputs, adapting perfectly to any system.
What makes the PR140 stand out is its modular design. With an extension slot, it can easily be upgraded by adding optional modules such as a phono stage (for vinyl playback) or a DAC (for digital sources). This flexibility ensures that your preamplifier can grow with your system and remain future-proof.
Built with premium materials and Kora’s dedication to craftsmanship in Toulouse, France, the PR140 is a versatile centerpiece for serious music lovers seeking both precision and upgrade potential.

- Optional Extension Slot: A user-installable drawer module adds an MM/MC phono stage or a DAC (2 coaxial, 2 optical inputs).
- Energetic Long-Cable Drive: Outputs stay energetic and assertive even on long cable runs.

Can I add a phono stage or DAC to the Kora PR 140?
Can I add a phono stage or DAC to the Kora PR 140?
Yes, through its extension slot. Kora makes two drawer-style modules you can fit yourself: the Phono Module for moving magnet or moving coil cartridges, with MC loading set by switches under the drawer, and the DAC Module, with two coaxial and two optical inputs converting at 32-bit/768kHz. Switch the preamp off, remove the four screws on the slot cover, slide the drawer in and refit the screws; the PR 140 recognizes the module when it powers up.
Which power amplifiers pair with the PR 140?
Which power amplifiers pair with the PR 140?
Kora's TA power amplifiers have no volume control and need a preamplifier like the PR 140, which has both balanced XLR and RCA outputs. The TA 240 (120 watts per channel into 8 ohms) and the larger TA 480 each take an RCA or XLR input, reach full power from about 500mV, and have an input attenuator from 0 to -40dB in 1dB steps for matching.
Is the PR 140 a tube preamplifier?
Is the PR 140 a tube preamplifier?
Yes. Its analog stage is Kora's Square Tube circuit with four triodes per channel; the tubes provide the gain, and a pair of transistors helps drive the output cable, giving an output impedance under 50 ohms. Kora monitors the tube voltages continuously, and if a tube develops a fault the display says so and the unit shuts down to protect the rest of your system.
What inputs does the PR 140 have, and does it run on US power?
What inputs does the PR 140 have, and does it run on US power?
One balanced XLR and four RCA inputs, each with its own level trim so every source plays at the same volume; the trims also apply to module inputs. Its power supply accepts 100 to 240V at 50 or 60Hz, so it runs on US mains as it is.
