Grimm Audio amplifiers are the power stage for Grimm's own music players, and this page holds every Grimm power amplifier The Listening Room carries. Grimm Audio was founded in 2004 to build studio equipment and made its name in digital audio with the MU1 and MU2 music players and the CC1 and CC2 master clocks, and the PA1 is the company's first power amplifier.
The PA1 is a Class AB mono-block, one chassis per channel, with more than 100 watts into 8 ohms and 200 into 4 from 96 fast output transistors in what Grimm calls the Pierick Amp output stage. The signal path is fully balanced with no series coupling capacitors, the linear power supply uses an Amplimo toroidal transformer and 90,000 µF of reservoir capacitance, and the gain switches between 26 dB and 18 dB to suit the preamp. Its cabinet was drawn by Michiel Uylings, the industrial designer behind the MU1, MU2 and PW1, and it is built to take the MU2 as its source and preamp, which lives in Grimm Audio Music Streamers.
