The Acoustic Energy AE309² is the evolution of a modern classic, a 2.5-way slim-line floorstanding loudspeaker that brings high-end flagship technology into an accessible, room-friendly package. Updated with "Squared" series advancements, this speaker features brand-new drive units developed directly from the research behind AE's flagship CORINIUM project. By replacing the previous generation's ceramic-aluminium cones with advanced paper/coconut-fibre drivers and pairing them with a new soft-dome tweeter, the AE309² delivers a smoother, more organic, and faster performance. Housed in an inert, constrained-layer damped cabinet with luxurious "silk-touch" finishes, it offers a sophisticated visual and sonic presence for medium to large listening rooms.

Flagship DNA: The Corinium Effect

The headline upgrade for the AE309² is the trickle-down technology from Acoustic Energy's reference CORINIUM loudspeaker. The new mid-bass drivers employ a unique cone material: a mix of paper and coconut fibre. This natural composite offers an ideal balance of lightness, rigidity, and internal damping. Unlike harder cone materials that can "ring," this new blend ensures that the speaker stops and starts instantly with the music, providing a midrange texture that is open, uncolored, and startlingly realistic.

Inert Cabinet Design

A great driver is useless in a noisy box. The AE309² cabinet uses Acoustic Energy’s signature RSC (Resonance Suppression Composite) technology. By sandwiching a bitumen layer between high-quality MDF panels, the cabinet walls are effectively damped against vibration. This constrained-layer construction forces the energy out through the drivers rather than vibrating the walls, ensuring that the deep bass (reaching a remarkable 33Hz) remains tight and tuneful, never booming or muddy.

Refined Highs and Seamless Crossover

To match the speed of the new bass drivers, the AE309² is equipped with a new 29mm soft fabric dome tweeter. This larger dome moves more air with less effort, resulting in lower distortion and a wider "sweet spot" in your listening room. The 2.5-way crossover network is meticulously tuned to blend this tweeter with the twin bass drivers at 285Hz and 3.8kHz, creating a cohesive wall of sound where individual drivers disappear, leaving only the performance.

Despite its powerful output (Peak SPL of 112dB), the AE309² maintains a slender, elegant profile that fits easily into modern living spaces. The new "Silk-Touch" matte finishes resist fingerprints and absorb light for a stealthy look, while the rear slot port allows for relatively flexible placement compared to circular ports. The included solid aluminium bars and spikes ensure the speaker stays rooted, sharpening imaging and bass focus.
