The REL Airship II is a state-of-the-art wireless system that delivers the full performance of a wired connection, without the cable. It is engineered to meet the exacting standards of REL's Reference and Serie S models, using a zero-compression, 5.8 GHz signal to transmit the audio with lightning-fast speed and a 12dB quieter noise floor than its predecessor. What makes the Airship II revolutionary is its ability to transmit both the High Level and .1/LFE signals simultaneously, allowing for a "REL Theatre Reference" connection. This means your subwoofer remains perfectly blended for music via the High Level input, while also delivering explosive movie dynamics, all with no need to adjust settings and no cable to clutter your room.
The Airship II is designed for REL's flagship models, including the No. 32, No. 31 , 212 Black Label , Carbon Special, S/850, S/550, and HT/1510.
Key Features
- Zero-Compression Wireless: Transmits a wide-bandwidth signal with zero compression, preserving the full dynamics, texture, and tonal color of the original audio.
- Simultaneous High Level & .1/LFE: Uniquely transmits both the High Level (music) and .1/LFE (theater) signals concurrently for the ultimate dual-purpose performance.
- State-of-the-Art 5.8 GHz Signal: Uses a fast, robust 5.8 GHz signal, avoiding the crowded 2.4 GHz band used by Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, for a clear and stable connection.
- Advanced DAC/ADC Chipset: Features a new Texas Instruments DAC/ADC chipset that lowers the noise floor by 12dB, resulting in a clearer, more dynamic sound.
- Reference & Serie S Compatibility: Designed to provide a no-compromise wireless connection for REL's highest-performance subwoofer lines.
- Bolt-On Receiver: On compatible models, the receiver can be bolted directly to the subwoofer's amplifier panel, creating a clean, integrated solution.
The New Wireless Standard
The Airship II represents a massive leap in wireless performance, built on the latest Texas Instruments DAC/ADC chipset. This advanced engineering lowers the system's noise floor by a remarkable 12dB. The audible result is transformative; the signal arrives clearer, crisper, and more dynamic, with richer, more saturated tonal colors. It delivers sound that is the equal of a high-quality wired connection, with the freedom to place your subwoofer in the acoustically perfect location, not just where a cable can reach.
REL Theatre Reference™ Connectivity
The true genius of the Airship II is its ability to do what no other wireless system can: transmit both the High Level and .1/LFE signals at the same time. This allows for the "REL Theatre Reference" setup. Your subwoofer stays connected via High Level for a perfect, seamless blend with your main speakers for two-channel music. Simultaneously, it receives the .1/LFE signal from your processor. This means you get the best of both worlds—subtle, natural musicality and explosive, hard-hitting movie dynamics—without ever touching a single control.
Freedom from Interference
Standard audio wireless systems often use the crowded 2.4 GHz band, competing with Wi-Fi, smart phones, and a host of other devices, which can result in dropouts and a compressed, lifeless sound. The Airship II uses a robust 5.8 GHz signal, a frequency previously reserved for military use, to ensure a clear, stable, and interference-free connection. This high-speed, wide-bandwidth signal is the key to achieving REL's signature speed and slam without the tether of a cable.
Elegant Integration
The Airship II is designed to be a clean, elegant solution. The compact transmitter is easily placed near your amplifier or AV processor. For the ultimate in integration, the receiver on compatible models (such as Reference and Serie S) is designed to bolt directly onto the subwoofer's amplifier panel. This creates a neat, "bolt-on" installation that requires no extra boxes on the floor and no extra power cord, keeping the final installation as clean and simple as possible.
