It is the first MM cartridge in the world to utilize a Neodymium N55 magnet, the strongest commercially available magnet. This groundbreaking power source is paired with an ultra-rigid boron cantilever and a Fine Line nude diamond stylus—the very same profile found on Rega’s reference £3,000+ Aphelion 2 MC cartridge. Rega achieved this by collaborating with a luxury watchmaker to fabricate an ultra-fine connecting tube. This engineering feat allows the Nd9 to maintain the high output voltage (5-6mV) of an MM cartridge while gaining the mechanical advantages—stiffness, speed, and low resonance—of a Boron assembly, previously the domain of exotic MCs.

At the tip of the Boron cantilever sits a Fine Line nude diamond. This complex stylus profile, with a minor radius of just 3µm, presents an exceptionally small contact area to the groove wall. This allows it to trace the most minute high-frequency details and subtle spatial cues that lesser styli simply miss. When combined with the zero-tolerance generator alignment, the Nd9 delivers a level of clarity and channel separation that rivals cartridges costing significantly more.
