Perlisten R4b Bookshelf Speaker; Each Overview
Description
Description
Don't let the bookshelf form fool you. The R4b packs a mighty punch, weaving intricate symphonies from delicate whispers and unleashing bass tremors that'll vibrate your very bones (seriously, secure those vinyl figurines!). It's not just room-filling sound; it's an immersive experience that transports you to the heart of the music.
S-Series DNA Unveiling Silky Smooth Sounds
The R4b isn't just a pretty face. It boasts the legendary S-Series DNA, ensuring your music gets the royal treatment. The secret weapon? The Perlisten DPC Array, three laser-focused 26mm silk domes control directivity and reduce ceiling and floor reflections. Imagine pinpoints of sonic light illuminating every note with precision, eliminating muddy midrange and wandering treble. Every instrument finds its perfect spot, creating a holographic soundscape that wraps you in pure bliss.
Harshness and fatiguing treble? Not here. The R4b glides through midrange and treble like butter on... well, silk. Silky smooth silk diaphragms uncover hidden treasures in your music, letting you hear every nuance as if for the first time.
- DPC Array - (3) 26mm silk domes with custom-designed waveguide to minimize floor and ceiling reflections
Seamless Synergy, Wherever You Play
The R4b plays nice with its R-Series compadres. The DPC Array ensures perfect timbre matching, so whether you're rocking a solo R4b setup or building a multi-channel masterpiece, your music flows seamlessly from speaker to speaker, painting a unified sonic portrait throughout your space. Forget disharmony; these speakers sing in perfect unison.
- Timbre matched to all R-series speakers
Bass that's No Slouch
The R4b's meticulously crafted 6.5" HPF pulp woofer delivers deep, impactful bass that adds visceral realism to movies and music. It may not boast switchable modes (like the R5t or R7t), but it strikes the perfect balance between room-shaking rumble and controlled accuracy, ensuring your soundtracks and recordings resonate with power and clarity.
- (1) 6.5" HPF pulp woofer designed and tested for over 2 years
- Frequency Response: 45Hz - 32kH

Dual binding posts await, offering single-wire or bi-wire mastery. Unleash the controlled thunder of its precision-engineered soul, where every note shines with clarity and every bass tremor reverberates with quiet power.

FAQ
FAQ
Perlisten R4b or R5m for front speakers?
Perlisten R4b or R5m for front speakers?
The R5m is the bigger step. It doubles the woofers to two 165mm HPF drivers, adds a ported option alongside sealed, and reaches a 113.2dB peak against the R4b's 107.6dB. It is also far more sensitive, 89.2dB against 84.6dB, so it needs less amplifier power for the same level. It carries THX Dominus as well as Ultra certification, where the R4b is THX Ultra. The R4b's advantage is size: 382mm tall and 9.5kg against 546mm and 17.5kg. Both share the same three 26mm silk dome DPC-Array.
Can the R4b be mounted on a wall?
Can the R4b be mounted on a wall?
Yes. Perlisten designs the R4b for either its optional stand or a wall mount using its tilt and swivel bracket, which threads into the back of the cabinet. The bracket tilts up to 30 degrees and swivels up to 90 degrees, although the usable range varies by speaker. We carry both the Perlisten wall bracket and the R-Series stands for the R5m and R4b.
Should I use the R4b or the R4s for surrounds?
Should I use the R4b or the R4s for surrounds?
Both are timbre-matched to the R-Series and share the same three 26mm silk dome DPC-Array with one 165mm HPF woofer, so the choice is about mounting. The R4s is built for the wall: a 10 degree angled baffle, a flush wall bracket in the box, and a 173mm depth, and it reaches a 109.5dB peak. The R4b is a conventional sealed bookshelf speaker, 236mm deep, that goes on a stand or on Perlisten's tilt and swivel bracket, with a 107.6dB peak. Perlisten lists the R4b as a timbre-matched surround option for R-Series systems.
Does the R4b need a subwoofer?
Does the R4b need a subwoofer?
Perlisten builds it to be the heart of a 2.1 system, so plan on one. The R4b is a sealed design reaching 45Hz at -10dB and about 38Hz in room, which covers most music but leaves the bottom octave to a subwoofer. It also has 84.6dB sensitivity, so a subwoofer taking the deepest bass relieves the amplifier driving it.
