Yes, that's literally his cell

At this level, every detail matters: your room, your system, what you’re driving it with, what you’re listening to. I handle these orders personally because an investment like this deserves more than an Add to Cart button. We’ll work through system synergy, I’ll make sure the setup is right, and we’ll coordinate delivery so it arrives exactly how it should. A few of our brands require this direct approach, but at this price point, it’s how I’d do it anyway. Use the button above, or call/text me directly at 410-239-2020.

Family-Owned Authorized Dealer

We're an authorized dealer for every brand listed on this site, so your warranty is valid and fully supported. We're a real brick-and-mortar shop in Chestertown, MD with shelves of actual inventory, not a drop-shipper. Family-owned and run for three generations, since 1978.

*Free Delivery and Shipping

Free shipping for most items over $100! Local delivery up to 500 miles more with minimum qualifying purchase.

See our shipping policies for details. We will contact you after your order.

The Vienna Acoustics The Music is the speaker that ends the conversation. A three-way floorstanding design with a coincident midrange driver that covers seven octaves without a single crossover point through the vocal range, it does something almost no other loudspeaker can: it makes the room disappear. Designed by Peter Gansterer in Vienna and built with drivers manufactured in Austria and Germany, The Music sits at the summit of the Klimt Series and represents decades of research into phase-coherent driver technology.

Key Features of The Music

  • Coincident Flat Spider Cone Driver: Patented coaxial midrange covering 7 octaves (roughly 200Hz to 20kHz) from a single point source, eliminating crossover-induced phase shift through the critical vocal range
  • Three 9" Spidercone Woofers: Proprietary ultra-rigid NAWI cone bass drivers manufactured by Eton Germany, reaching down to 18Hz in separate sealed and ported chambers
  • ScanSpeak Piezo Supertweeter: Extends high-frequency response from 20kHz to 100kHz with superior dispersion characteristics
  • Mechanically Decoupled Head Unit: The midrange/tweeter enclosure sits on a precision aluminum swivel joint, independently adjustable for both rake angle and toe-in
  • "Sweet Zone" Dispersion: The adjustable head unit creates a broad listening area rather than a narrow sweet spot, reducing early reflections for better room integration
  • TPX Cone Material: Proprietary mix engineered via finite element analysis for optimal stiffness-to-damping ratio
  • Separate Bass and Midrange Enclosures: Complete mechanical isolation between the bass section and the coincident driver eliminates cabinet resonance transfer
  • 90dB Sensitivity / 6 Ohm Impedance: Compatible with quality amplifiers from 50 watts to 500 watts, including well-built tube designs
  • Handcrafted Sapele Veneer: Real wood finish with fit and finish quality that rivals speakers at considerably higher price points

The Coincident Driver: Seven Octaves From a Single Point

At the heart of The Music is Peter Gansterer's patented Flat Spider Cone coincident driver. This 18cm coaxial design places a handcoated silk dome tweeter (with a neodymium magnet structure) at the center of a flat, radially-vaned midrange cone. The result is a single coherent point source that covers seven full octaves without introducing any crossover components through the vocal range.

The flat cone surface eliminates the time and frequency-specific phase shifts that conventional curved cones produce. The cone material is TPX in a proprietary blend optimized through finite element analysis, manufactured by Vienna Acoustics in Austria and assembled into complete driver units by Eton in Germany. The wave launch pattern mimics a pebble dropped in a still pond: perfectly symmetrical dispersion from a single origin point. This is what gives The Music its stat-like coherence with the dynamic authority of a full-sized floorstanding design.

Bass Architecture: Three Spidercone Woofers in Isolated Chambers

The bass section uses three proprietary 9-inch drivers with ultra-rigid NAWI cones, die-cast with Spidercone framing and manufactured by Eton Germany. The two lower woofers work in parallel to produce the deepest bass (reaching a genuine 18Hz), while the upper bass driver operates in its own separate chamber to handle the transition into the lower midrange. This three-driver, dual-chamber approach gives The Music the kind of low-frequency extension and control that most speakers in this class simply cannot match.

The entire bass enclosure is mechanically separated from the midrange/tweeter enclosure above it. There is no shared cabinet wall, no resonance path between the two. The bass section does its work without contaminating the purity of the coincident driver above.

The Supertweeter: Extending Beyond Human Hearing

Sitting atop the bass enclosure is a 1.2-inch supertweeter manufactured by ScanSpeak, using piezo technology chosen specifically for its superior dispersion characteristics above 20kHz. It extends the high-frequency response from 20,000Hz all the way to 100,000Hz. While the fundamental frequencies stop well below that, the harmonics and overtones captured in high-resolution recordings benefit from this extended bandwidth. The difference is subtle but real: more air around instruments, more natural decay on cymbals and strings, a sense of space that standard tweeters simply cannot reproduce.

The Adjustable Head Unit

The Music's upper enclosure (housing the coincident driver) connects to the bass enclosure through a high-tech drawn aluminum swivel joint. This is not just a tilt mechanism. It allows independent adjustment of both rake angle (the forward/backward tilt) and toe-in (the left/right rotation). The precision is micrometer-level.

What this means in practice: instead of a single sweet spot where everything locks into focus, The Music creates a sweet zone. You can aim the midrange dispersion pattern like a flashlight, broadening the optimal listening area and reducing the early reflections that cause room coloration. Setup is critical (as any speaker at this level demands), but the reward is a listening experience that works for more than one person at a time.

Cabinet Construction and Finish

The Music is finished in Sapele veneer, a straight-grained African hardwood with a rich, warm tone that complements the speaker's tall, slender proportions. At 8.6 inches wide, 51.2 inches tall, and 18.3 inches deep, The Music has a smaller footprint than many speakers with half its bass output. Each speaker weighs 82 kg (approximately 180 lbs), which tells you something about the internal bracing and driver mass involved.

The build quality speaks for itself. Multiple reviewers have noted that the fit, finish, and mechanical execution rivals speakers costing significantly more. Every detail, from the spike assembly to the binding posts to the veneer matching, reflects the kind of care you expect from a company that manufactures its own driver cones in-house.
