The Cambridge Audio Edge S is a limited-edition floorstanding speaker marking the company's 1968 founding. Only 68 pairs were built worldwide. We have the final two.

Limited Stock: Last pair of 68 ever produced, exclusively at The Listening Room.

Final production stock. Six months of factory warranty remaining.

Cambridge's Edge philosophy is simple: listen first, measure later, and forget cost and limitation. The Edge S carries it into a speaker: four drivers in an acoustically inert polyurethane resin cabinet that avoids the parallel surfaces of conventional speakers, on a heavy die-cast aluminum base with spiked feet, with Cambridge's new Continuous Profile Cone (CPC) mid-range drivers.

Key Features of the Cambridge Audio Edge S

  • Limited to 68 pairs worldwide: Built to commemorate Cambridge Audio's founding in 1968. Each pair ships with a limited edition certificate.
  • Aspirated Tweeter Technology (ATT): The 25mm tweeter uses an elongated metal diffuser that floats freely in a discrete enclosure, with vents that eliminate the coloration of traditional closed-back designs.
  • Continuous Profile Cone (CPC) drivers: One 4-inch CPC mid/bass and two 6.5-inch CPC woofers, each surrounded by a CNC-machined aluminum ring that aids dispersion, unhindered by the cabinet.
  • Acoustically inert resin cabinet: Polyurethane resin chassis with sculpted, non-parallel internal surfaces.
  • Solid aluminum base: A heavy die-cast base with spiked feet adds structural stability, so no energy is wasted through vibration.
  • Lunar Grey finish: The only finish offered on the Edge S, on a speaker Cambridge describes as handmade to exacting standards.
  • Binding posts: Copper-plated and single-wirable.

True Limited Edition

The number 68 isn't marketing. Cambridge Audio was founded in 1968, and Cambridge made only 68 pairs of Edge S to celebrate that foundation year. When they're gone, they're gone. There won't be a second run.

The Aspirated Tweeter, Explained

Most dome tweeters fire forward into the room and trap their rear wave inside a small sealed chamber behind the dome. That trapped energy reflects back through the dome, smearing transients and adding a characteristic ringing that hi-fi listeners learn to tolerate. The Aspirated Tweeter answers that with an elongated metal diffuser floating freely in its own enclosure, with vents that let the tweeter breathe. The result is faster transient response and a more open top end that doesn't soften or grain at high SPLs.

Continuous Profile Cone

The 4-inch mid/bass and the two 6.5-inch woofers use Cambridge's new Continuous Profile Cone (CPC) drivers. Each is surrounded by a CNC-machined aluminum ring that aids dispersion, unhindered by the cabinet, and internal bracing holds the drivers in place. The combination produces cleaner dispersion and lower distortion at high output levels.

The Cabinet Is Not a Box

The Edge S chassis is acoustically inert polyurethane resin, which made radical internal sculpting possible, and the ported cabinet avoids the parallel surfaces of conventional speakers. Cambridge says the shape eliminates coloration and has unsurpassed mechanical strength. It sits on a heavy die-cast aluminum base with spiked feet.
