The Oracle Audio Corinth is a low-output moving coil cartridge built by Benz Micro Switzerland exclusively for Oracle. It uses the same solid boron cantilever and nude line-contact diamond stylus as the flagship Corinth Reference, housed in a vented ebony body that delivers a warmer tonal balance while maintaining the precision Oracle demands from their cartridge line. At 0.4 mV output, it needs a proper MC phono stage but rewards the investment with detail and tracking ability that justify its place in serious analog systems.
Key Features of the Oracle Audio Corinth
- Benz Micro Switzerland Build: Designed and manufactured by Benz Micro, one of the most respected cartridge makers in the world, exclusively for Oracle Audio.
- Vented Ebony Body: Machined ebony wood housing with precision venting controls resonance naturally and adds warmth to the overall presentation.
- Solid Boron Cantilever: 0.28mm boron rod, the same material used in the Corinth Reference, for rigid, low-loss signal transmission.
- Nude Line-Contact Diamond: Mirror-polished, fine line-contact profile (3 x 60 μm) reads deep into the groove for maximum detail retrieval.
- Pure Iron Cross Coil: Iron cross coil design delivers clean, consistent output with excellent channel separation (better than 36 dB).
- Low Output (0.4 mV): Requires MC-capable phono amplification. Works beautifully with Oracle's PH200 MkIII or PH100 MkIII.
Oracle and Benz Micro: A Purpose-Built Partnership
Oracle Audio doesn't rebrand off-the-shelf cartridges. The Corinth, Corinth Reference, and Thalia are all designed from the ground up by Benz Micro in Switzerland specifically for Oracle's turntable platform. Every element is selected to complement the Delphi MkVII's suspension and bearing characteristics, creating a cartridge that works as part of an integrated system.
Ebony Body and Resonance Character
Ebony is one of the most popular body materials in high-end cartridge design for good reason. It's dense enough to resist unwanted vibration but has natural damping properties that prevent the "analytical" character some metal-bodied cartridges exhibit. The venting pattern machined into the Corinth's body allows internal air pressure to equalize during playback, which reduces coloration. At 9.6 grams, the Corinth is significantly lighter than the zebrawood-bodied Corinth Reference (16.4 grams), making it compatible with a wider range of tonearms.
Generator Assembly
The Corinth uses a pure iron cross coil generator, a simpler but highly effective design that delivers 0.4 mV output at 12 ohms internal impedance. The low impedance makes it easy to load correctly across a wide range of phono stages (100 to 47,000 ohms recommended). The solid boron cantilever and nude line-contact diamond are shared with the Corinth Reference, so the stylus-to-groove interface is identical. The difference in sound between the two models comes primarily from the body material and coil architecture, not the contact point.
Explore the Oracle Audio Cartridge Lineup
The Corinth sits in the middle of Oracle's three-cartridge lineup. All three are built by Benz Micro Switzerland:
- Oracle Audio Thalia - High-output moving coil (2.5 mV) with ebony body. Works with MM phono stages, the most accessible entry into Oracle's cartridge range.
- Oracle Audio Corinth Reference - Low-output moving coil with zebrawood body and square ruby coil plate. The flagship, for systems that can resolve its full potential.
