Yes. Goldring says the LX must be used with a dedicated moving coil phono input, since it puts out 0.5mV into 100 ohms. With only a moving magnet input, Goldring's instructions call for a head amplifier with about 20dB of gain.

Goldring recommends 100 ohms, with total capacitance, including the arm lead and phono stage, no more than 500pF. It says loading is not critical but affects output: dropping from 100 to 10 ohms lowers output by about 4dB, and the character of the sound may change.
