Description

The Cyrus 80 PWR is a dedicated Class A/B power amplifier that delivers 200 watts per channel in stereo or 300 watts in bridged mono. It has no DAC, no streaming, no display, just amplification. Pair it with the 80 PRE for a full Cyrus separates system, or use it to add serious power to any preamplifier with balanced XLR outputs. The switchable stereo/mono operation means you can start with one and add a second later for true monoblock performance.

Please Note: The Cyrus 80 Series will be available as soon as it passes US certification. Place your order now to reserve yours.

Key Features of the Cyrus 80 PWR
  • 200W per Channel, Stereo: Class A/B output stage with generous headroom for large or demanding speakers
  • 300W Bridged Mono: Switchable mono operation for maximum power delivery to a single channel
  • Balanced XLR Inputs: Low-noise connection from preamplifier to power amplifier
  • RCA Preamplifier Input: Single-ended connection for universal preamp compatibility
  • Switchable Stereo/Mono Operation: Rear-panel switch for easy configuration changes
  • Full-Width Aluminum Chassis: Larger enclosure for better thermal management and power supply isolation
  • Made in the UK: Assembled at Cyrus's Cambridgeshire facility with a 5-year warranty
Class A/B Power Delivery

The 80 PWR runs a Class A/B output stage that delivers 200 watts per channel in stereo. The full-width chassis gives the power supply more room than Cyrus has ever had in a single component, which translates directly into current delivery. When speakers need grunt during dynamic passages (orchestral crescendos, kick drums, bass transients), the 80 PWR has the reserves to keep control without compression. The wideband amplifier design maintains phase integrity from well below the audible range to well above it, so the sound stays clean and coherent at any volume.

Stereo and Mono Operation on the Cyrus 80 PWR

A rear-panel switch lets you configure the 80 PWR for stereo or bridged mono operation. In stereo mode, you get 200 watts per channel from a single unit. Switch to mono and the amplifier bridges its two channels into one, delivering 300 watts to a single speaker. This is a practical upgrade path: start with one 80 PWR in stereo, and when you're ready for more power, add a second unit so each speaker gets its own dedicated 300-watt monoblock. The balanced XLR inputs support either configuration cleanly.

Speaker Control

The 80 PWR is designed to drive speakers that need current and control. Planar magnetics, large floorstanders, and low-impedance designs all benefit from an amplifier with the power supply reserves to maintain damping factor across the frequency range. The 200-watt stereo rating is continuous, not peak, and the over-specified power supply means the amplifier doesn't run out of headroom before the volume knob does. If your speakers are rated for 4 ohms or have complex crossovers that dip below their nominal impedance, this kind of reserve matters.

Paired with the Cyrus 80 PRE

The 80 PWR was designed to partner with the Cyrus 80 PRE. The PRE handles all source management (BluOS streaming, DAC, phono, HDMI eARC) and sends a clean balanced signal via XLR to the PWR for amplification. Separating the preamp and power amp into dedicated chassis reduces interference between the sensitive analog circuits and the high-current output stage. The result is a lower noise floor and more precise imaging than you'll get from a single integrated unit, especially at lower listening levels where noise becomes more apparent.

Build Your Cyrus System

The 80 PWR pairs with the Cyrus 80 PRE for a separates system with streaming, or with any balanced preamplifier. For an all-in-one approach, the Cyrus 80 AMP combines 150W amplification, BluOS streaming, and full connectivity in a single chassis. The 80 Series works alongside the 40 Series: add a 40 CD for disc playback, a 40 PPA for dedicated phono, or a 40 PSU to upgrade any 40 Series component's power supply.

FAQ

Can I bridge two Cyrus 80 PWR amplifiers for monoblock operation?

Yes. Each 80 PWR has a rear-panel switch for stereo or bridged mono operation. In mono mode, one 80 PWR delivers 300W to a single speaker. Buy two units, set each to mono, and each speaker gets its own dedicated 300W monoblock. This is a practical upgrade path: start with one in stereo at 200W per channel, then add a second when you want more power.

What preamplifier should I pair with the Cyrus 80 PWR?

The Cyrus 80 PRE is the natural partner, combining BluOS streaming, an ESS Sabre DAC, phono stage, and full connectivity. The 80 PWR also accepts balanced XLR and RCA inputs from any preamplifier. The balanced XLR connection is preferred for the lowest noise between preamp and power amp.

What speakers can the Cyrus 80 PWR drive?

The 80 PWR delivers 200W per channel in stereo (300W in bridged mono), making it capable of driving demanding speakers including large floorstanders, planar magnetics, and low-impedance designs. The Class A/B output stage with its over-specified power supply maintains control and damping across the frequency range, even with speakers that present difficult impedance curves.

When will the Cyrus 80 PWR be available in the US?

The Cyrus 80 Series is expected to be available in the US in April 2026, pending final US certification. The Listening Room is among the first US dealers to carry the 80 Series. You can place a preorder now to reserve your unit.

Is the Cyrus 80 PWR configured for US voltage?

The 80 PWR has a 115/230V voltage selector on the rear panel. All units sold through The Listening Room will be configured for US voltage (115V/60Hz) with a US power cord. No external transformer is needed.
