The Cambridge Audio SX60 Standmount Speakers are designed to deliver a sound that is significantly larger than their physical footprint suggests. By combining the flexibility of a bookshelf speaker with the commanding presence of a floorstander, the SX60 strikes the perfect balance for audiophiles who have limited space but refuse to compromise on power. Embodying the "Great British Sound," these speakers provide a confident, full-range performance with a deep, punchy low end and crystal-clear highs, making them an exceptional choice for both dedicated stereo setups and dynamic home cinema systems.
The defining characteristic of the SX60 is its ability to produce a "wall of sound" typically reserved for larger tower speakers. This is achieved through the use of a substantial 165mm (6.5") mid/bass driver, significantly larger than those found in standard bookshelf models. Crafted from treated paper, the cone is both lightweight and stiff, allowing it to move air efficiently for a deep, visceral bass response while maintaining the speed required for accurate transient reproduction.
Complementing the powerful bass is a 25mm (1") silk dome tweeter designed to deliver the nuance and air of the original recording. Unlike metal domes that can sometimes sound brittle, the silk construction ensures a smooth, natural high-frequency response. A dedicated foam damper behind the tweeter diaphragm absorbs unwanted internal reflections, resulting in a clean, open soundstage where every detail—from the shimmer of a cymbal to the breath of a vocalist—is presented with absolute clarity.
One of the biggest challenges with bookshelf speakers is placement, as rear ports often require significant distance from walls to avoid "boomy" bass. The SX60 solves this with a smart front-firing bass reflex port. This design choice allows you to place the speakers closer to a wall or on a bookshelf without compromising audio fidelity. Housed in a rigid CAD-modeled MDF cabinet that eliminates box coloration, the SX60 offers the freedom to position your speakers where they look best, knowing they will sound their best.

Forward and revealing, sometimes too much so. Very high quality though, especially at the price. ... Accurate yet forthright, they throw it all at you.
