The AE509’s carbon fiber tweeter and mid/bass cones aren’t just there to look impressive. They’re purpose-built to behave pistonic through their operating range, offering high rigidity with excellent damping. This gives you treble that stays open and detailed without harshness, and bass that’s agile but not bloated. Oversized voice coils and optimized motor systems give the AE509 speed, control, and exceptional transient response at all volumes.

Acoustic Design That Stays Out of the Way

Cabinet coloration can ruin a good transducer, which is why Acoustic Energy developed its multi-layer Resonance Suppression Composite material. This RSC design helps the AE509 maintain tonal clarity by minimizing energy from the cabinet walls. You get the full expression of the drivers with nothing added and nothing taken away.

Imaging That Holds Together Off-Axis

The tweeter sits in a Wide Dispersion Technology waveguide that not only helps with room coverage but also physically time-aligns the output with the midrange drivers. This keeps imaging sharp and layered, even when you’re not sitting dead center. The MTM layout (Mid-Tweeter-Mid) helps with vertical dispersion as well, creating a more consistent response throughout your space.

Slim Form, Serious Output

At just 185mm (7.25 inches) wide, the AE509 slots easily into most listening rooms, even those where larger floorstanders might overpower the space. But don’t let the footprint fool you, with a rated sensitivity of 89dB and peak SPL of 115dB, these are full-range speakers with muscle. They dig down to 32Hz, which means you can comfortably skip the subwoofer in most two-channel setups.
