At this level, every detail matters: your room, your system, what you’re driving it with, what you’re listening to. I handle these orders personally because an investment like this deserves more than an Add to Cart button. We’ll work through system synergy, I’ll make sure the setup is right, and we’ll coordinate delivery so it arrives exactly how it should. A few of our brands require this direct approach, but at this price point, it’s how I’d do it anyway. Use the button above, or call/text me directly at 410-239-2020.

The REL HT/1205 MKII is the formidable centerpiece of the Home Theater series, a subwoofer built for cinematic bass at its price point. It is engineered specifically to deliver the crushing dynamics and deep, concussive LFE (.1) demanded by modern movies, all from a sleek, compact cabinet. The "MKII" designation signifies a ground-up redesign, now featuring a powerful 500-watt Class D amplifier and a new, lightning-fast 12-inch CarbonGlas™ driver. This combination delivers a stunning 6dB increase in output over its predecessor, producing truly visceral, chest-rumbling effects that bring the theater experience home. It's the ideal combination of affordability, manageable size, and extraordinary dynamic performance.
Key Features
- 500W High-Current Amplifier: A new, powerful, and reliable 500-watt (RMS) Class D amplifier provides the massive power and control needed for explosive dynamics.
- 12” CarbonGlas™ Driver: A 12-inch (300mm) long-throw, lightweight, and incredibly stiff driver designed for high output and speed, capturing every detail of an LFE track.
- Pure Home Theater Focus: Purpose-built for .1/LFE, with specially adapted input filters that produce extremely flat, deep bass extension down to 22Hz.
- Modern, Elegant Cabinet: A sleek, low-profile cabinet with a line-grained composite finish, topped with a 15mm thick, hand-rubbed piano gloss lacquer top plate.
- Stereo Pairs and HT/3D Systems: REL does not design the HT/1205 MKII for line array stacking; add units as a stereo pair, or combine it with a Serie T/x or Serie S sub in a REL HT/3D theater system.
- HT-Air™ Wireless Compatible: Pairs with the optional HT-Air MKII wireless transmitter for a zero-compression, high-speed connection without long cable runs.
The Heart of the Cinema: CarbonGlas™
The HT/1205 MKII's incredible impact comes from its 12-inch (300mm) CarbonGlas™ driver. This lightweight, composite cone is exceptionally stiff, combining a glass fiber primary cone with a true carbon fiber center cap. This design allows it to handle the massive 500-watt amplifier's power without flexing, which is the key to its speed and slam. This driver can produce the deep, subterranean rumble of a special effect one moment and the sharp crack of an explosion the next, delivering a level of nuance and impact that is rare in this category.
500 Watts of Cool-Running Power
To achieve its performance goals, REL's engineers developed a new 500-watt Class D amplifier for the MKII. This high-current engine is a huge leap in performance, delivering 6dB greater output than the model it replaces. It runs cool and remains reliable even when pushed to its limits, providing the instantaneous power and headroom necessary to reproduce the most demanding, dynamic special effects without compression or strain.
A Purpose-Built Theater Weapon
The HT series is designed specifically to answer the challenge of pure home theater. Unlike REL's dual-purpose models, the HT/1205 MKII's input filters are specially adapted for movie LFE, allowing them to produce extremely flat and deep bass all the way down to 22Hz. This focused approach means 100% of its performance is dedicated to delivering chest-rumbling, high-output special effects, bringing a truly cinematic and tactile experience to your home.
Elegant Form, Brutal Function
The HT/1205 MKII is designed to look as good as it sounds. The cabinet is lower, sleeker, and more refined than traditional "big box" subs, borrowing proportions from REL's Reference models. The main body is finished in an attractive, line-grained black composite, which is easy to clean and durable. This is crowned by a 15mm thick top plate, finished in 5 coats of hand-rubbed, high-gloss black lacquer, which also serves to damp vibrations from the cabinet.
Wireless Freedom
The HT/1205 MKII is fully compatible with REL's optional HT-Air MKII wireless system. This zero-compression system is designed specifically for the dynamics of home theater, transmitting the .1/LFE signal with lightning-fast speed (16-20 milliseconds) and reliability. This allows you to place the subwoofer in the optimal position in your room for the best possible bass response, without the constraint of an unsightly, long RCA cable.

Can HT/1205 MKII subwoofers be stacked?
Can HT/1205 MKII subwoofers be stacked?
No. REL says the HT/1205 MKII is not designed for line array stacking and does not recommend it. For stacking, REL points to the HT/1510 Predator or its Serie S models such as the S/550.
What did REL improve in the HT/1205 MKII?
What did REL improve in the HT/1205 MKII?
REL says it gained a full 6dB of output, about 50% louder than the original. Its 500-watt Class D amplifier uses MOSFET modules rated at 800 watts, and the 12-inch driver pairs a glass fiber cone with a carbon fiber center cap. It reaches 22Hz at -6dB, with an analog subsonic filter starting as low as 8Hz.
Does the HT/1205 MKII work with high-efficiency speakers?
Does the HT/1205 MKII work with high-efficiency speakers?
Yes, and REL suggests the HT series for speakers above 95dB sensitivity, as a stereo pair. It has no high-level input, so you connect by RCA; REL says to buy RCA Y-adaptors, one per sub, to run a stereo pair of HT subs.
Can I add an HT/1205 MKII to my existing REL?
Can I add an HT/1205 MKII to my existing REL?
REL designs it to integrate with systems already anchored by its Reference, Serie S or Serie T/x subwoofers as a dedicated .1/LFE sub. Connect the processor's sub out to its LFE input by RCA, or wirelessly with the HT-Air MKII, which REL says is perfect for this job.
