The Cambridge Audio SX60 Standmount Speakers are designed to deliver a sound that is significantly larger than their physical footprint suggests. Cambridge builds it on the strengths of the smaller SX50 for greater depth, scale and impact, offering large-scale performance in a compact form. A 6.5-inch treated paper cone woofer and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter give a rich, full-range sound with natural tonality.
Cambridge designed the SX60 for large-scale performance in a compact form, built around a 165mm (6.5") mid/bass driver, larger than the SX50's 135mm. Crafted from treated paper, the cone is both lightweight and stiff, allowing it to move air efficiently for a deep, visceral bass response while maintaining the speed required for accurate transient reproduction.
Complementing the powerful bass is a 25mm (1") silk dome tweeter designed to deliver the nuance and air of the original recording. Unlike metal domes that can sometimes sound brittle, the silk construction ensures a smooth, natural high-frequency response.
One of the biggest challenges with bookshelf speakers is placement, as rear ports often require significant distance from walls to avoid "boomy" bass. The SX60 puts its bass reflex port on the front, beneath the woofer, and Cambridge describes the design as offering placement flexibility. Cambridge still suggests leaving at least 5cm behind each speaker, and includes foam bungs for the port if you place them on a desk or close to a wall. The rigid MDF cabinet, designed using computer-aided modeling, minimizes unwanted resonance.

Forward and revealing, sometimes too much so. Very high quality though, especially at the price. ... Accurate yet forthright, they throw it all at you.
