The Grand Callas is Opera’s most refined three-way loudspeaker system to date, blending engineering precision, musicality, and architectural beauty into one adaptable design. With a nod to the revered Tebaldi and previous Grand Callas models, this fully re-engineered speaker combines serious performance with real-world flexibility. Powerful yet elegant, the Grand Callas delivers a richly textured soundstage with pinpoint clarity, whether you're near-field listening or filling a large space with music.

Rear Dipole for Spatial Precision
Opera’s natural dipole system uses two rear-mounted tweeters wired in series and out of phase. This setup energizes the room with high-frequency ambience while avoiding destructive interference in the main listening axis. The result is a more immersive and natural top end that maintains transient accuracy without sounding etched or aggressive.
Drivers That Do the Heavy Lifting
Scanspeak-built woofers with aluminum cones are optimized for accuracy and speed, capable of hitting 115 dB at 200 Hz without strain. The annealed polypropylene midrange features a long linear excursion and Excel-based magnet system for ultra-low distortion. At the top, the Scanspeak 9700 tweeter continues its reign as one of the finest dome designs ever made: air, sparkle, and control in equal measure.
Cabinet Engineering That Disappears
Despite their size, Grand Callas enclosures minimize coloration thanks to multi-density construction, thick internal bracing, and detailed damping. The midrange chamber is fully lined with pyramid-profile open-cell foam, virtually eliminating reflections and modal noise. All front-facing driver mounts are precision-milled to reduce air turbulence at the cone boundary.
Smart Crossover Architecture
Rather than three independent sections, Opera’s crossover combines the woofer and midrange into a compound mid-woofer system. This configuration ensures seamless phase integration while preserving the natural power response through the crossover region. High-quality components like Mundorf capacitors and MOX resistors keep the signal path pure.
Adaptable Room Positioning
A rear panel switch allows for subtle bass tuning to suit different placements: close to walls, corners, or asymmetrical setups. Blockable reflex ports further increase control, letting you voice each speaker independently to match the room’s behavior. Whether 20 cm or 2 meters from the wall, the Grand Callas adapts.
The Listening Room Difference
At The Listening Room, we don’t just sell loudspeakers, we help you build a system that sings. As a third-generation, family-owned business, we’ve built our reputation on honest advice, hands-on service, and deep product knowledge. When you call, you’re likely talking directly to Mike. From setup tips to system matching, we’re here to make sure every detail serves the music. No pressure. Just good sound, done right.
