Description

The Cambridge Audio Evo 300 is an all-in-one streaming amplifier that puts 300 watts per channel, a network streamer, a high-resolution DAC and a moving magnet phono stage into a single chassis. It is the most powerful Evo to date, driven by dual-mono Hypex NCOREx amplification and fronted by a 7.8-inch color display, built to run a genuinely demanding pair of speakers straight out of the box.

Key Features of the Cambridge Audio Evo 300
  • 300W Per Channel: Dual-mono Hypex NCOREx Class D delivers 300W into 8 ohms and 550W into 4 ohms, twice the power of the Evo 150 SE.
  • StreamMagic Gen 4: Native Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect, plus Deezer, Amazon Music, internet radio and Roon Ready operation.
  • ESS Sabre DAC: The ES9038Q2M handles up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512 from every digital source.
  • 7.8-Inch Display: The largest screen Cambridge Audio has fitted to a hi-fi component, showing album art, track data and source at a glance.
  • Built-In Phono Stage: A moving magnet phono input connects a turntable directly, no separate preamp required.
  • HDMI eARC: Run your TV through the Evo 300 and control volume with your existing remote.
  • Balanced and Single-Ended Inputs: Balanced XLR sits alongside two RCA line inputs, optical, coaxial and USB audio.
  • Customizable Side Panels: Two magnetic panel sets ship in the box, a real wood veneer and a tech-style black, so the look matches your room.
About Cambridge Audio

Cambridge Audio has engineered audio in London since 1968, with a house philosophy it calls Great British Sound: accurate and musical, without artificial coloration. The Evo line distills that thinking into a one-box system, and the Evo 300 sits at the top of that range as its most capable model.

Twice the Power of the Evo 150 SE

At the heart of the Evo 300 is Hypex NCOREx Class D amplification arranged in a dual-mono layout, with a separate amplifier for each channel. It produces 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 550 watts per channel into 4 ohms with both channels driven, enough headroom to control power-hungry floorstanders and larger rooms that the smaller Evo models leave on the table. The dual-mono design keeps the left and right signal paths independent for cleaner separation and a wider, more stable soundstage.

ESS Sabre DAC and Hi-Res Playback

Digital conversion runs through an ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC supporting up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512. The Evo 300 preserves the resolution of your files and streams without unnecessary resampling. It plays the full range of formats, from compressed MP3 and AAC up to high-resolution FLAC, WAV, ALAC, AIFF and native DSD.

StreamMagic Gen 4 Streaming

The Evo 300 is built on the fourth generation of Cambridge Audio's StreamMagic platform. It supports Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Qobuz Connect natively, with Deezer and Amazon Music alongside internet radio and UPnP playback from a home network. It is Roon Ready, works with AirPlay 2 and Chromecast built-in, and adds Bluetooth 5.4 for quick connections from a phone or laptop. Everything is managed through the StreamMagic app or directly from the front panel.

Every Source in One Box

The rear panel is built to be the hub of a full system. HDMI eARC brings your television in with single-remote volume control, and the moving magnet phono input takes a turntable directly. Balanced XLR sits alongside two RCA line inputs for analogue sources, while optical, coaxial and USB audio handle digital. Outputs include speaker terminals for two pairs (A and B), a subwoofer output, a preamp output, and a 6.35mm headphone jack on the front.

The 7.8-Inch Display

The Evo 300 carries the largest screen Cambridge Audio has ever put on a hi-fi component. The 7.8-inch color display shows album artwork, track and artist information, source and sample rate clearly from across the room, turning the amplifier into the visual centerpiece of the system rather than a black box on the rack.

Built-In Moving Magnet Phono Stage

A dedicated moving magnet phono stage is built in, so a turntable connects straight to the Evo 300 with no outboard preamp. It preserves the character and detail of vinyl while keeping the system to a single box.

Make It Yours: Customizable Side Panels

The magnetic side panels lift off and swap by hand. The Evo 300 ships with two full sets, a real wood veneer for a warmer, traditional look and a tech-style black for a more modern one, so the same amplifier can dress up or down to match your space.

More in the Cambridge Audio Evo Range

The Evo 300 is the flagship of Cambridge Audio's all-in-one Evo lineup.

  • Evo 150 SE - the 150W streaming amplifier that sits one step below, for smaller speakers and rooms.
  • Evo One - the all-in-one system with speakers built into a single cabinet.

Acclaim

We need to get a sample in our test rooms to fully explore the Evo 300’s sonic credentials, but there’s no doubt that this streaming amplifier looks like an attractive proposition both on paper and in the flesh.

Andy Madden,What Hi-Fi? · June 2026

The new Evo 300 takes that concept much further, adding serious power, dual mono architecture, the new Hypex Ncore X amplification, and the kind of connectivity that could make it the centerpiece of a very high-end two-channel audio system.

FAQ

How is the Cambridge Audio Evo 300 different from the Evo 150 SE?

The Evo 300 is the more powerful step up. It doubles the amplification to 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms (550 watts into 4 ohms) using a dual-mono Hypex NCOREx layout, where the Evo 150 SE delivers 150 watts per channel. The Evo 300 also moves to an ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC supporting up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and DSD512, adds a larger 7.8-inch display (the biggest Cambridge Audio has fitted to any component), and includes HDMI eARC and balanced XLR inputs. Both run the StreamMagic Gen 4 platform and include a moving magnet phono stage, but the Evo 300 is built for larger rooms and more demanding speakers.

Can the Evo 300 drive large or demanding speakers?

Yes. The Evo 300 produces 300 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 550 watts per channel into 4 ohms with both channels driven, from a dual-mono Hypex NCOREx Class D design that gives each channel its own amplifier. That is enough power and headroom for power-hungry floorstanders and larger rooms that a smaller all-in-one would struggle to fill.

Does the Evo 300 have a phono stage for a turntable?

Yes. A moving magnet (MM) phono stage is built in, so you can connect a turntable with a moving magnet cartridge directly to the Evo 300 without a separate phono preamp. If your turntable uses a moving coil cartridge, you would add an external MM/MC phono stage.

Can I connect my TV to the Evo 300?

Yes. The Evo 300 has an HDMI eARC input, so you can connect a compatible television and run your TV sound through the amplifier and your speakers. Because it uses eARC, you can also control volume with your existing TV remote, which makes the Evo 300 the hub of both a music system and a home theater setup.

Is the Cambridge Audio Evo 300 compatible with US power?

Yes. The Evo 300 has a universal power supply rated for 100-120V and 220-240V at 50/60Hz, so it runs on standard US household power. It ships with the correct mains lead for your region and is ready to use out of the box.
