About Unison Research

Unison Research, founded in Italy, has a long-standing reputation for crafting high-fidelity audio equipment that marries traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. Each product reflects their passion for music and dedication to producing equipment that delivers both sonic excellence and visual beauty.

Design and Build Quality

The Unico CD Due features a sleek design that complements the Unico 150 and Unico 90 amplifiers, with a distinctive three-fold faceplate, white LED indicators, and a clear OLED display. The display can be turned off for a distraction-free listening experience. Built with a metal chassis and a shielded CD mechanism, the CD Due is designed to reduce vibrations and ensure long-lasting durability.

Sound Performance

The sound quality of the CD Due is defined by its hybrid tube output stage. Using four ECC83 tubes in a totem pole configuration, the unit combines the warm, engaging sound of tubes with the dynamic performance of solid-state technology. High-quality Wima and Mundorf capacitors further enhance clarity and reduce noise, providing a balanced, immersive listening experience suitable for various music genres.

Connectivity and Versatility

The Unico CD Due is equipped with a wide range of digital inputs, including USB, coaxial S/PDIF, balanced AES/EBU, optical Toslink, and a built-in Bluetooth receiver for wireless streaming from smartphones, tablets, and computers. These inputs make it easy to connect the CDDue to nearly any digital audio source, from standard CDs to high-resolution digital files. The CDDue also offers both balanced and unbalanced analog outputs for flexible integration with different audio systems.

Advanced Digital Processing

The CD Due uses the ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC chip, known for its high signal-to-noise ratio of 128 dB and low distortion of 0.0003%. An FPGA processor enhances the responsiveness and functionality of the digital section, providing better handling of audio data. Users can choose from three digital filters to fine-tune the sound to their liking, whether they prefer enhanced temporal coherence, phase accuracy, or impulse response.
